  • Anvilicious: The show is not subtle in how it portrays alternative medicine which is shown to often lead to disastrous results and a key source of conflict, especially in later seasons.
  • Awesome Music: Empty Bottle by Tim's band Dekkar
  • Broken Base: While likely an in-joke, expect commenters to be split on whether they agree with Tim or Gregg when it comes to desired creative direction of the show or if there is a topic that the two have opinions about it.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: One of the show's Running Gags is Gregg asking that viewers "write in to the Academy" to give The Hobbit an Oscar for Best Picture. In 2022, The Oscars added an "Oscar Fan Favorite" award for viewers to write in their favorite film of the year. None of the Hobbit movies were eligible, however.
  • Misaimed Fandom: While the real life Tim intended to mock the sort of conservative political views that his on cinema persona has, he suspects some people watch the series because they share those views.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Tim has a couple of these moments
    • First Tim refused to allow his infant son, Tom Cruise Heidecker, to get conventional medical treatment for his illness and instead relied on Dr. San's alternative medicine treatments to cure him. This results in the death of the child
    • If that wasn't enough, there is also when Tim falls asleep in the Victorville film archive after using a vaporizer, given to him by Dr. San and had since become addicted to it, which causes the archive to catch fire, destroying Gregg's film collection, his other possessions and other people's property while causing massive burns to himself in the process. Despite the damage he had done to himself and others, Tim continued to use the vaporizer and refused help when his friends try to help him stop his addiction
    • He manages to cross it again with the Electric Sun Desert Music Festival. Due to a combination of the vape pens he and Dr. San gave out and his refusal to hire paramedics for the event, 20 people died
    • Gregg's nonchalant and dismissive treatment of Tim's disappearance and possible suicide attempt during the fourth Oscar special.
    • Both hosts share one in the fifth Oscar special when Mark passes out while trapped in a scuba diver costume and has to be carried out by paramedics. Tim and Gregg seem unphased and only concerned that it's becoming distraction.
    • In the sixth special, Gregg has a still-comatose Mark propped up on a dolly as a "Living Oscar", and Tim takes the building hostage, hiring an armed associate and threatening everyone with pepper spray.
  • Squick: Tim once shows his infected foot during an episode.
    • When asked where the skin for Tim's skin transplant came from, Manuel says it basically came from his ass.
  • The Woobie: Mark. He had suffered a lot of abuse from the hands of Tim who also tends to cut out segments that would have featured Mark like "Golden Age Comedies". the incident at the 5th oscar special has left badly injured as well.
