- Cliché Storm: The pilot episode was full of medical cliches and this was pointed out by critics, including Decider who called it a Frankenstein of various medical dramas including Grey's Anatomy.
- Critical Dissonance: Many reviewers like Decider advised people to skip the show and critics weren't generally kind to it, but viewers liked the Lighter and Softer feel of the show. It's got a second season, despite the negative reviews, so is profitable.
- Fandom Rivalry: It has a small one with Grey's Anatomy mainly due to fans of that series accusing Nurses of being a rip-off of it, and fans of Nurses insist that it is its own thing, and as a Canadian Series, very different in tone.
- Growing the Beard: Season 2 which aired recently is said to be even better than Season 1 which was okay, but not great.
- Moral Event Horizon: Dr. Hamilton sexually harassing nurses in his OR, including Grace but particularly during a surgery where he had his hands on her that she accidentally dropped a sponge in a patient's abdomen resulting in Hamilton firing Grace.
