YMMV / My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale

Go To

  • Applicability: "Equestria's Got Talent" being about the G5 cast trying to make their play appeal to a critic can be seen as an allegory for their attempts to appeal to G4 fans.
  • Awesome Music: Many of the songs are quite catchy to listen to with "Work, Work, Work" and "Let Out Your Light" from the episodes A Home to Share and Mane Melody as prime examples.
  • Continuity Lockout: While normally self-contained or recounting anything important, some things; Sparky Sparkeroni, the Breezies and their market, Misty being Alphabittle's daughter, come out of nowhere if one doesn't follow Make Your Mark.
  • Fridge Brilliance: "I've Seen Fire And I've Seen Rain(bows)" has its inconsistencies with what was shown in Make Your Mark justified by the ponies telling it being Unreliable Narrators. This would explain all the Series Continuity Errors with MYM as ponies similarly telling the story from their point of view, their "tales", fitting and explaining the series name being Tell Your Tale.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In "Jazz Hearts Rocky", Izzy (played by Ana Sani), Misty (played by Bahia Watson) and the rest of the main cast help Jazz prepare for a date with Rocky. Two days later, in Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City episode "Aunt Praline's Sweetie Pie", Strawberry (played by Ana Sani), Orange Blossom (played by Bahia Watson), and the rest of the main cast help Aunt Praline prepare for a date as well.
  • Memetic Mutation: See here.
  • Spiritual Successor: This show can be seen as one to My Little Pony: Pony Life as both shows feature a similar art style, have five/ten minute short episodes, and are heavily focused on comedy.
  • Squick:
    • In "Nightmare Roommate", Izzy mistakes Sunny's toothbrush for an ear cleaner, and uses it right in front of a horrified Sunny.
    • Dahlia is able to make her flowers glow! How? Sneezing on them. It's probably for the best that only she and Sunny know this.
    • The bunnycorn relieves itself on Izzy's desk in "Baby Critters Club". Thank god most of what we saw was its face.
    • Apparently, Sparky's fire can come out from both ends as seen in "Haunted House" and "Secret Canter". Yuck...
      • Gets even more disgusting when Misty is caught in the radius of Sparky's latest release during the end of "Sparky’s Sick".
  • Unexpected Character: Violette Rainbow's appearance caught fans off guard given prior series practically never touched upon comic characters or continuity, especially since Tell Your Tale's use of continuity is... jumbled, to say the least.
  • Tainted by the Preview: The announcement that the film's Hollywood voice actors would be replaced with less expensive Canadian soundalikes for the series proper made waves among portions of the fanbase, claiming it proved Hasbro lacked faith in the brand and/or was attempting a cash grab after blowing their money on the film. One meme in particular singled out Hitch's replacement JJ Gerber, claiming he was either inexperienced or untalented since he only had two IMDb credits to his name — one of which is the widely-panned Bibleman cartoon series. While his sparse IMDb history is technically true, it's also misleading; Gerber is mainly a musician and stage musical actor, rather than a voice actor.
