YMMV / Monolith Soft

Go To

  • Common Knowledge: Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles are sub-series within the same franchise. While this is an understandable conclusion, due to all of them being created by Monolith Softnote  and sharing the "Xeno" name, this actually isn't the case. They are three separate IPs owned by three separate companies, all with their own separate narratives and continuities; the continued use of "Xeno" by each subsequent franchise is a mix of Creator-Driven Successor (Saga) and Production Throwback (Blade), but that's about it. This misconception not helped by the fact that fans of Monolith's work like to lump them together anyway as "the Xeno games", even those who are 100% aware of this fact. This then turned right back around in the final chapter of Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed where it namedrops many elements of other games, as well as the Gaiden Game Xenoblade Chronicles X, and The Stinger may even show KOS-MOS falling to the Xenoblade merged world, officially tying all game series together.
