YMMV / Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Abridgerty

Go To

  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Snake's final speech, a piece on the joy of creation, satisfaction, and audience reaction. Especially the last line.
    • Minor example, but there was Raiden dedicating the finishing blow to Solidus to his parents. He didn't seem too concerned in the game, so it was nice to at least get something.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In Episode 6 of Sons of Abridgerty, Snake asks Raiden "You know how to use missiles as a jumping platform, right?" At the time, just an allusion to the infamous incident where Snake springboards off of a missile during the Hind boss fight in The Twin Snakes. Two years after the episode came out, however, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance came out and in the game's very first boss fight, Raiden, now a cyborg ninja, actually uses a Macross Missile Massacre as stepping stones to reach the Metal Gear RAY firing them and finish it off.
  • Take That, Scrappy!:
    Campbell: "Now go electrocute yourself."
Raiden: "Okay. ARRRGGGHHHHH! OH GOD! Now what?"
    Campbell: "Talk to Rose."
    • In a perfect summation of Raiden and Rose's popularity (at the time), at the end Raiden says that he can hear their special song playing. That song? "Never Gonna Give You Up".
    • In the re-upload, it was changed to the theme from The Room (2003), which gradually faded into the 7 Grand Dad title theme.
