*** A bit of FridgeBrilliance for both endings. If Dan gets every Chalice, he is celebrated as a true hero who earned his spot in the Hall of Heroes. But even if he fails, he's still content with going back to his eternal slumber. No one will ever know what he has accomplished and will continue to be seen only as a fake hero, but he doesn't mind. He proved it to himself that he can go the distance, and feels no need to seek gratification from others because the mark of a true hero is humility, something that the once boastful Fortesque [[CharacterDevelopment has come to understand]].

Some like Jim Sterling wishes the developers had more confidence in itself to give the game even more bells and whistles like ''VideoGame/MedievilResurrection'' did, while others like Caddicarus didn't mind it at all, realizing the goal is obviously a shot-for-shot remaster of the original, enjoyed it for what it was.

* ThatOneAchievement: Getting the Chalice in the Lake, which requires you to [[ViolationOfCommonSense completely ignore the warning given to you at the start of the level]] and trigger all of the green eyeballs, forcing you into fights with [[DemonicSpiders extremely resilient enemies]]. And you have to kill ''every single one of them'' personally, as knocking them into the lake will only make them jump back out. ''Sometimes''. Depending on where they are, they'll just disappear and force you to start the entire level over again. So don't do it by accident (which is surprisingly easy to do,) ''or'' accidentally destroy any of the green eyeballs before they've summoned enemies. Thankfully, the [=PS4=] remake fixes the issue by having each eyeball now give the same lost soul percentage as the group of enemies it summons.

The battle is real hard to put it lightly because you not only have to shield yourself from the repeatedly fire shots but also to avoid to fall in the deep gorge below as the platform where you stand will occasionally tip over with no warnings. * AntiClimaxBoss: The Pumpkin King ([[WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas Not THAT Pumpkin King!]]). Despite having an intimidatingly large lifebar of 1100 points, if you have a fully loaded crossbow you can take it down from afar effortlessly. However, the PS4 remake averts this as it now has additional phases such as regenerating and gaining a shield that will not go away till you find and destroy the vines hidden throughout the stage that appear which means you can't attack it all willy nilly with the crossbow this time. So players who'll play the original is in for a rude awakening from The Pumpkin King.
