Fridge Brilliance: Joseph running a gigantic con on the Russian hunter was about the only way of showing a traditional (i.e. racist) Western genre depiction of Native Americans in modern times without grossly offending people. It served both as a subversive Take That to the genre and a loving homage / way of Getting Crap Past the Radar all in one.
They Just Didn't Care: The credits for every episode of Bret Maverick call it "A Comanche Production in association with Warner Bros. Television"... but James Garner's company is Cherokee Productions.
Comanche was taken. For instance, they made Bret Maverick.
