- Fridge Brilliance: Joseph running a gigantic con on the Russian hunter was about the only way of showing a traditional (i.e. racist) Western genre depiction of Native Americans in modern times without grossly offending people. It served both as a subversive Take That to the genre and a loving homage / way of Getting Crap Past the Radar all in one.
- They Just Didn't Care: The credits for every episode of Bret Maverick call it "A Comanche Production in association with Warner Bros. Television"... but James Garner's company (which produced most of his post-Maverick projects) is Cherokee Productions. The book Maverick: Legend Of The West confirms the wrong American Indian tribe was used.
