YMMV / Little Demon

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice: Satan starting a rumor that Bennigan slept with a teacher, getting said teacher in trouble with the law? A pretty vile act. Satan doubling down by impersonating Bennigan and telling the cops she did things to him that would "make God cry"? Hilarious.
  • Les Yay: In episode three, the interactions between Laura and Darlene could be interpreted as such in the making.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The most attention this show has got was by Christian watchdog groups (and right-wingers that already had a bone to pick with Disney) attacking this show for being Satanic and supposedly being aimed at kids. Hell, the first trailer got massively review-bombed.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Laura can be this sometimes. Yes, she does everything she can to protect Chrissy from demons, but she got herself into that mess in the first place by getting involved with the dark arts and Satanic forces. Whenever Chrissy criticizes her parenting skills, Laura would guilt-trip her for choices she made in her reckless youth. This is on full display in Night Of The Leeches, where she grudgingly goes to a PTA meeting, causes trouble because of her temper, uses magic to solve her problems instead of dealing with them like a mature adult (something that leads to her becoming a host for the leeches), and after Chrissy calls her out on it, she only bothers to improve herself to prove Chrissy wrong instead of because she felt bad about making herself look bad in public.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The show earned the ire from Moral Guardians for its adult situations and occult themes. This assumption came from both Disney producing the show (albeit under the FX Productions banner) and the Animation Age Ghetto. Doesn't help that the series is available on Disney+ internationally through Hotstar.
  • The Woobie: Chrissy Feinberg is a young girl who constantly goes through Hell, both metaphorically and literally. She and her mother Laura moved around constantly, leaving her with a Friendless Background and a lack of a stable home. Then when she learns that she's the Antichrist, things only seem to get worse for her; her father is Satan himself and, despite growing to genuinely love and care for her, sees her as a pawn to enact Maximus Dawnus and isn't above manipulating her and the people she knows to make her closer to him; her mother slowly reveals herself to be resentful of having to be a parent and, at one point, it's revealed that she tried to use a time reverse spell to prevent herself from starting a relationship with Satan and, by extension, erasing Chrissy's whole existence, even admitting to her own daughter that Chrissy's birth felt like her death. Finally, there's the fact that every time she tries using her demonic powers for good, it backfires horribly (i.e. her friendship with Bennigan was nearly destroyed when she tried to cure his self-esteem issues using her magic, to disastrous results). Oh, and there's also the fact that both demons and humans (mainly assassins sent by the Church) are out to kill her just because of her power and sinister destiny.
