- Alternative Character Interpretation: Inspector Delaroche aka "Bijou", the Drag Queen/Crossdresser cop. He's never seen without his feminine clothes and makeup and it's implied he would've loved being a lady, so he might be transgender.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Character actor Ticky Holgado played the fake hunchback. This was before he had more sizeable roles, most famously in the films of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
- Fans of Les Visiteurs will readily recognize Didier Pain (King Louis VI the Fat in the latter film series) as Delaroche's police colleague handling the drug-sniffing pig.
- Spiritual Successor: Another Gérard Oury film about Jewish people/culture and a protagonist who finds himself chased by antagonists following a random encounter that happened to him, with a soundtrack by Vladimir Cosma, after The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob and Ace of Aces. In fact, it's a reverse of Rabbi Jacob, in that a religious Jewish man has to disguise as a gentile/non-religious person to escape the villains instead of the other way.
