  • Bizarro Episode: One episode is about a baby delivery by Human Aliens in a space station hospital. Three girls and a boy are born, but some problems ensue and the boy is dropped on Earth among gorillas. The story ends with an old man asking other people whether they knew Tarzan had three sisters.
  • Nausea Fuel: One gag has a nurse confuse a jar of gooseberry jam and one of human blood, spreading the latter on her bread... it ends with her vomiting in the bathroom.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Although the first album was published in 1986, many elements prove this series is more hooked on The '70s:
    • One story has the patient being a man who was sentenced to be killed by the guillotine. Death penalty was abolished in 1981 in France (where the story allegedly takes place).
    • An eyepatch joke refers to Israeli General Moshe Dayan, who was then famous for his war maneuvers.
    • The nurses are shown wearing skirts, which was the typical uniform then. In later, more modern albums, they wear pants.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: This series has quite a lot of dark, even gory humor, and yet it is often put along "kid comics" categories.
  • The Woobie: Happens to several patients. Even when it is supposed to be humorous.
