• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Stabler giving his daughter Kathleen an incredibly awkward sex talk. It's funny when Kathleen is just a cute little kid, but becomes somewhat less so in retrospect given the kind of sexual behavior Kathleen engages in after the onset of her bipolar disorder, and especially given what she tells another girl in "Crush":
    Kathleen: I let boys use me. Have sex with me. Even hit me. I was too scared and too ashamed to say anything.
  • An old, jerkass, prolific serial killer cop from The '70s is arrested decades after he stopped killing. And his old partner is named D'Angelo.
• Values Dissonance: While transgender women come in all shapes and sizes, including some who are prostitutes, the way they portray the transgender prostitutes in this episode are basically there for laughs, such as two of them deliberately having Uncanny Valley Makeup on to emphasize them looking "freakish". Calling them "boys pretending to be girls who are still boys" and referring to the "He-She Turf War" when talking about them driving the cisgender female prostitutes out of their territory wouldn't fly today.
