  • Audience-Alienating Era: The band's albums from 1992 to 1999 are largely viewed as this due to abandoning their trademark sound in favor of Industrial Metalnote  or Gothic Metalnote , although they have a fair amount of defenders.
  • Signature Song: "Pleasure to Kill" or "Flag of Hate" in general, "Violent Revolution" for the Yli-Sirnio-era material.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • The band’s Industrial/Gothic influenced albums got this.
    • Though nowhere near as prominent as the above (the bulk of these releases being well received by the fandom, particularly Coma of Souls which is often seen as a competitor to Pleasure to Kill as their magnum opus), there exists a vocal minority of fans that thinks the band got significantly worse when their sound became more polished and technical, but less chaotic, on Terrible Certainty, Extreme Aggression and Coma of Souls. This group similarly tends to think not very highly of Violent Revolution onward, viewing them and especially their strong Melodic Death Metal tendencies as being "too clean".
  • Win Back the Crowd: The release of Violent Revolution in 2001, which was a fresh return to the band's signature sound that was last seen on 1990's Coma of Souls. Along with that, the album was generally very well-received by critics and fans alike.
