- Awesome Music: There's a reason this album birthed an entire new genre. It truly sounded like nothing else at the time.
- Common Knowledge: The song "Daddy" gets accused of being about Davis being raped by his father by some fans. It isn't. The song itself is called "Daddy" because it's an allegory to how Davis's parents did not believe him when he was sexually molested by a female babysitter.
- Fandom Heresy: Do not make any jokes regarding "Daddy", do not make any nightcore/daycore versions, and it's advised you only make a cover if you have similar experiences.
- Narm: YOU CAN SUCK MY DICK AND FUCKING LIKE IT! Doubles as Narm Charm, but a little more narm.
- Narm Charm: The lyrics are often vulgar and juvenile, but this serves to more authentically channel the feelings of a teenager who is unable to cope with what's happening around them, which only serves the album's purpose.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The cover art. The ambiguity and album's theme of loss of innocence makes it all the more terrifying. Something is clearly wrong here. The reverse-side photo of the now-empty swing implies something much, much worse.
- Davis's very real meltdown on "Daddy." The sheer raw emotional anger and devastation of him reliving the single most horrible thing that had ever happened to him is both heartbreaking and profoundly uncomfortable.
- Once Original, Now Common: At the time of its release, there truly was nothing like this album. No other metal band had strayed so far from the norm or blended so many different styles together into such an appealing sound. Considering that the formulas and techniques it established became an entire genre unto itself, it can be hard for newcomers to appreciate.
