YMMV / Hidden Agenda (2017)

Go To

  • Captain Obvious Reveal: It should be fairly easy to guess that Simon Hillary is Adam Jones, who is also The Trapper. Jonathan Finn shares a convincing story featuring a man with a motive named Adam Jones, Simon Hillary has an unnaturally deep voice and sinister appearance, he acts strange when confronted with the evidence to The Trapper's identity, and he even has the hoody that the man who was following Becky wore. If this isn't enough, one should be able to recognize Hillary's distinct voice through the voice modifier. Becky also deduces that the Simon they know is a man who stole the identity of the real Simon Hillary. With all these clues that can be discovered before The Reveal, it shouldn't take long to piece things together.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Hidden Agenda often gets overlooked between Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology thanks to the fact that it's more a thriller than a horror game and uses the PlayLink system, making it less accessible for many players. However, in many ways it's the missing link between its two much more famous siblings: it established an early version of the multiplayer system that would define the Dark Pictures games, for example, and also laid the groundwork for future Supermassive titles always featuring one Inksuit Actor and filling out the remaining lead roles with in-house character models.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Felicity strongly dislikes being called Fliss. Two years after Hidden Agenda, Supermassive released Man of Medan starring a heroine who insists on being called Fliss rather than her legal name (which is revealed to be Felicité only through in-game documents).
  • Les Yay: Becky and Felicity are very close throughout the game, and their first meeting reads as very flirty: Felicity asks what Becky is doing that night and asks her to call, and there’s several seconds when Felicity is walking away where Becky appears to be checking out her butt. They spent a whole night together, but we only saw a small part of it, and Becky was weirdly evasive when asked about it later.
Becky: I, er, spent the night...the evening with Felicity Graves. Going over files.
    • If called upon to provide an alibi for Becky later on, Felicity will eagerly confirm that they spent "the entire night" together. Hmm...
  • Narm: Adam's face at the service road with Felicity and Becky when he finds out that Judge Vanstone's death was prevented. It's so hilariously deadpan and expressionless that it comes off as more hilarious than serious.
