YMMV / Hensuki: Are You Willing to Fall in Love with a Pervert, as Long as She's a Cutie?

• Audience-Alienating Premise:
  • Or "Audience-Alienating Title" to be more specific, since it has the word "Hentai/Pervert" in it, which makes most casual and young anime viewers bounce off. Not helping the matters is that the very first few seconds from the first episode are full of Fanservice. Those who stick around for the following episodes find it to be more of a tame Slice of Life comedy Harem anime with a mystery plot than an Ecchi anime (since the ecchi content is heavily toned down compared to other ecchi animes).
  • Also, the majority of the first episode was seen as an obvious Compressed Adaptation, being so fast-paced that many character introductions and a lot of worldbuilding from the light novel and manga were left behind from the get-go. However, the real twist to the story happens near the end of the first episode, and this would set the actual, unique theme of Hensuki forward.
• Awesome Music: "Daisuki" by Ayaka Ohashi, a cute, fun, and upbeat love song with lyrics that fit the series' "Cinderella" mystery (and ensuing romantic hijinks) quite well.
• Captain Obvious Reveal: The reveal of Cinderella's identity (Mizuha) wasn't surprising due to Keiki considering her Beneath Suspicion.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: In Volume 8, Yūhi Akiyama gained a lot of sympathy when she decided not to confess to Keiki upon realizing that he was in love with someone else. It helps that she was trying to overcome her Snowball Lie about having lots of sex experience and nearly became the type of normal love interest Keiki was looking for.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Keiki repeatedly turns down the advances of his suitresses because he wants a "normal" romance as opposed to going along with their various perverted tendencies. Mao is one of the few characters affiliated with the Calligraphy Club to be relatively "normal", saving Keiki from a Lover Tug of War between Sayuki and Yuika and generally lending him an ear and/or advice when he needs it. She even plays up her unabashed love of BL in order to hide her feelings for him... which makes it all the sweeter that their English voice actors would get engaged a few years after recording the dub.
• Memetic Mutation: Clap clap/Clapping ^Explanation Refers to the quick claps in the opening's chorus, which are illustrated by the series' girls actually clapping their hands (or doing something equivalent) in the opening sequence. This is often brought up by fans for how cute and funny it is.
• Squick: Given the fact that all the girls in this anime are underage, their oftentimes excessive sexual fantasies and/or fetishes as well as how they act on them can elicit this reaction from some viewers. A standout example for many is when Yuika, fresh off revealing her sadist tendencies to Keiki, pins him to the floor, removes her panties, and shoves them into his mouth as a "gift". Keiki himself was understandably freaked out.
