YMMV / Funkin' Corruption: REIMAGINED

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • "Familiar Finale" delivers well in being this mod's equivalent to Deathmatch, with a fast-paced song demonstrating the determination keeping Daddy Dearest and Girlfriend pushing through together to fight the Corruption, lasting longer than Daddy Dearest would've done alone.
      • Its "VIP" remix released on the composer's channel expands on this further, even extending it with a final segment involving regular Boyfriend and his Soul counterpart continuing to fight off the Corruption. Of course, it's up to fan speculation as to whether or not they succeeded here.
    • Likewise, "Full Circle" is the perfect Final Boss theme for this mod, being the last stand of Spirit BF, Girlfriend and Daddy Dearest as they take on the Corruption one last time. The intense and upbeat tone to the song mixed with the finality of it all makes for a truly Grand Finale to the mod's main story.
      • Its replacement, "Final Tempest", also manages to uphold that climatic feel for the mod's True Final Boss, even without a key change near the end, also accenting the struggle to end the Corruption once and for all.
    • While not in the playable mod, "Reimagine", the song heard at the conclusion of the Duality timeline on Dyan's channel, signifies that the series has undergone a long road, but alas, all good things still have to come to an end. This is accented with an upbeat tone harkening back to "Familiar Finale" (being a Recurring Riff in this mod), before the music finally settles down for the last two minutes and ends with a Lonely Piano Piece, signifying that REIMAGINED is well and truly done now, and there's no more content from this mod, nor anymore Friday Night Funkin' content to come from Dyan, his direction for the future currently undecided as of the release of the last video.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The abundance of varying timelines in this mod, of course, led to fans designing their own timelines to expand on the storyline, such as one where no-one has to die to stop the Corruption, or expanding on existing timelines, such as the Doomsday timeline.
  • Fridge Horror: Considering the Bittersweet Ending with Boyfriend dying as part of the plan to stop the Corruption, what is this going to mean for the future of the main cast? Sooner or later, Girlfriend is going to find out the truth of what became of her beloved (as hard as Spirit and Daddy Dearest try to hide it in Aftermath), which leaves some worrying implications for how she'll be able to cope with losing him for good.
    • Concerningly enough, this also extends for Spirit, who's most likely going to have to try and blend in as his new vessel and now live amongst the very man he wanted to get revenge on. There's a likelihood that he'll eventually snap and be through with pretending to be someone he's not, allowing him to take his revenge with nothing to stop him. These sub-plots are explored in Aftermath.
  • Funny Moments:
    • After Monster is cornered in the mall by the Dearests and Spirit Boyfriend, and finally beaten, he just... walks off, saying he needs to be anywhere that isn't the mall, all while Spirit just watches him leave.
    • While most of the Game Over quotes for "Compassion" are fittingly heartbreaking, with Evil Girlfriend discouraging Boyfriend for his failure, one of them suggests more of a Noodle Incident going on.
"And that's for breaking my favorite game!"
    • For April Fools' Day 2023, Evil Boyfriend is pitted against the Red and Green Impostors, who are proven not to be immune to the Corruption. However, while Green is clearly worried, Red visibly clearly doesn't care less. And at the song's conclusion, he turns around and yells "fuck off bitch" to Evil Boyfriend, who only has a moment to process this (judging by his confused face right before the ordeal) before instantly getting killed.
    • It's because of this that the mod's official Twitter account had developed quite the habit for doing shitposts as crossovers with Vs. Impostor, with Evil Boyfriend and the bunch trying to corrupt and/or kill the impostors and crewmates. Of course, hilarity ensues with the events that transpire.
      • Evil Boyfriend is constantly seen losing his temper with the situations going on, and most of his animations show either a lack of amusement or annoyance at the entire situation.
      • Not long into his first rap battle with Red, Evil Boyfriend decides "Screw This, I'm Outta Here" and vanishes, leaving behind a tombstone and baffling Red.
      • Red does likewise shortly after Resurgence Boyfriend transforms, interrupting the battle dead in its tracks.
      • Evil Boyfriend develops quite the comical expression when Yellow shows up.
      • How Yellow is corrupted? Evil Boyfriend is simply rude to him, and he corrupts rather quickly.
      • Black's battle, surprisingly, is the only one that doesn't last only a few seconds, though the illusion sequence is just a rehash of the final fight against Daddy Dearest. The voice's reaction?
"...I'm gonna be honest here. I'm not sure why I even bother."
      • Overall, this gave Dyan the funny thoughts of possibly doing a "official" spinoff mod of REIMAGINED with Among Us content.
  • Heartwarming Moments: For an alternate take on the original mod, this version has a few heartwarming moments of its own.
    • Pico goes the extra mile to ensure both Boyfriend and Girlfriend are freed from the Corruption, sacrificing himself for their sakes, and this time, he succeeds in freeing them both, albeit at the cost of his own free will. Even though it amounts to nothing in the end, it shows how much he cares about his ex-boyfriend.
    • Mommy Mearest even comes really close to freeing Pico of the Corruption, even more so than in canon, meaning they could be on good terms as well prior to the incident.
    • Girlfriend, after having been separated from Boyfriend in the canon timeline, chooses to get back to her father as soon as possible. For all the trouble he's caused her and Boyfriend in the base game, it really goes to show that she still trusts him despite all of that.
    • In the Rewind week, when Spirit BF pushes through to break Mommy Mearest free of the Corruption, it's heartwarming to see the Corruption no longer going strong despite their success up to that point. And even more so, Girlfriend looks overjoyed to have her mother back, and Daddy Dearest sports a confident smirk upon being reunited with his wife, knowing that victory is all but certain by this point.
    • In the "Duality" timeline's lore, Boyfriend and Pico eventually ally up with each other against a gang of corrupted people, both making it back to the alley mostly unharmed. Afterwards, they have each other's backs and even have some sweet banter with one another, just like the good friends they are. Due to his crippled leg, Boyfriend even forces Pico to flee for his safety before "Equalizer", wanting to settle his beef with the Dearests alone.
    • In the "Resurgence" timeline, after Boyfriend hacks into Hating Simulator ahead of Evil Boyfriend arriving, Senpai is immediately worried for him, which surprises Boyfriend, who thought he couldn't be seen. Senpai's new Jerk with a Heart of Gold is especially shown prior to "Godsend", where he wishes to get Boyfriend immediate medical attention, despite having never met him before in this timeline. Granted, that's the least of Boyfriend's concerns in the moment, but ultimately, it's still the thought that counts.
    • The "Compassion" timeline depicts Boyfriend taking on his corrupted Girlfriend in a one-on-one fight, and with The Power of Love, he succeeds. She does question his decision to save her, considering she indirectly caused Pico's death in this timeline by leaving Boyfriend for dead, but in the end, BF himself knows exactly why he chose to save her. In the words of the Girlfriend from another time, "That's the you I want to see."
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • While not part of the canon timelines, Evil Spirit BF and Evil Spirit Pico can both be a big source of nightmares, at first looking like insane versions of Boyfriend and Pico respectively before shifting into Corrupted forms with soulless eyes and much worse nightmare faces than before. And to top it all off, they easily overpower Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest respectively in a single song.
    • One of the Recursive Fanfiction mods for this mod, Continuum, brings with it a pair of entities that can really give you sleepless nights.
  • Signature Scene:
    • ”Devastation”, the moment you realize that, even while playing as him, Boyfriend is still able to succumb to the Corruption is probably one of the first things that would come to mind when thinking about the series.
    • Later on, "Savestate" counts towards this, signalling the moment things change for the better when Spirit takes a level in badass and overpowers Glitch BF, in turn beginning the downfall of the Corruption.
