- Angst? What Angst?/Wangst: Everyone veers wildly between these two moods, especially Ken and Captain Joe.
- Follow the Leader: Star Wars — especially the turret guns in Star Force and the expies of C-3PO and R2-D2 that appeared in Star Wolf. Ken even ends up dressed like Han Solo as he becomes a rakish mercenary.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Macekre: These movies, along with other Sandy Frank productions riffed on by MST3K, are proof that the trope might as well have been named after him. This and a couple of other Sandy Frank "movies" were produced by re-editing episodes of Japanese TV series together, often losing all semblance of plot coherency in the process. The many Kens in this movie are a result of this.
