YMMV / Formula Fusion

Go To

  • Broken Base: Formula Fusion is particularly divisive subject in WipEout fandom. Some hailed it as the long-awaited return to form of Wipeout-styled racing game, while the other gave harsh criticism it since it feels nothing like Wipeout as the marketing claims to be, and that one of the Designer Republic's artist gave an interview which is seen by a sizable chunk of fandom as regarding post-Wip3out games (that tDR didn't have a hand in) as rubbish. Gameplay and performace issues in its Early Access builds (and for some, in release build) only deepen the rift even further.
    • It actually feels closer to the very first Wipeout game, but that creates another Broken Base in itself.
  • Obvious Beta: Its release version is plagued with incomplete features and bad optimization all around. Many players reported major frame rate issues when it first launched.
  • That One Level: Niagara is pretty rough compared to the other courses. For starters, it's much longer than them (it often takes nearly 2 minutes to finish a lap; Freeway for instance can have a lap time of 50 seconds). Second, the tracks can often get narrow which, combined with high speeds (we're talking F2000 to Elite here), the AI bouncing all over the course and your craft potentially having poor handling, can lead to trouble.
    • Another track that's a pain to do is Mannahatta. Lots of sharp turns all over the place. Combine that with high speeds and you're in for a rough time.
