  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The Japanese slave driver.
    • According to Terry Jones on the commentary, the film had lots of different backers, each with a wish list (the Germans insisted on the casting of John Cleese, for example) and the Japanese investors insisted he cast Tsutomu Sekine, who was a famous Japanese TV star.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks! A lot of fans were not pleased with the re-edit of the film, citing either technical errors such as missing dialogue during one shot where the characters' lips are clearly shown to be moving, or the fact that it was shortened rather than extended. Of course, the latter was the point of the re-edit, as Jones felt that the movie was too long (not that you would know that from looking at the case in the store).
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Snorri being murdered by Loki. Even Keitel (who'd been working with Loki up to that point) seemed shocked and horrified at the act.
    • Sven finally goes Berserk at the right time for the right reason. The moment when Thorfinn is stabbed in the back right before his eyes.
