YMMV / EAS Scenarios

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • The community is often divided on EAS Scenario creator SPCHermitage 1258, and whether their content is made with effort, or made with low effort, even with his popularity.
    • Alert World has been subject to division from the community, mainly due to the style of content and whether it’s done well, or doesn’t work as actual EAS content.
  • Funny Moments: The "Angry EAS" videos will often deal with the TTS voices getting fed up with the viewer(s) not listening and will proceed to go on a swear-filled tirade. May include other voices as well.
  • Friendly Fandoms: In addition to the Analog Horror fandom, which this style of video making both precedes and serves as an inspiration, and the Weather Radio community, who naturally have an interest in the same sort of content, albeit in the form of real alerts, EAS Scenarios seem to have quite a bit of overlap with the GoAnimate community, with numerous videos made by the latter's fanbase taking inspiration from EAS Scenarios in some way.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Yuan P is known for their very detail oriented EAS "Simulations," mainly the ones that revolve around meteor impacts or nuclear attacks. One scenario in particular, Nuclear Armageddon: An EAS WW3 Scenario, features a story thread where Russia invades Ukraine, then attacks NATO while the latter is attempting to stop China from invading Taiwan, which eventually leads to a full-scale nuclear war from the nations related. This has become a lot more chillingly realistic of a scenario these days due to the fact that on February 24th of 2022 Russia did, in fact, invade Ukraine.
  • It's Popular, Now It Sucks!:
    • Nuclear attack scenarios have been mentioned by most creators and viewers as being one of the most overused concepts, if not, the most overused, due to it being an easy topic to choose when it comes to making scenarios due to its simplicity, abundance of information available on how such an event would be handed, and less effort being implemented.
    • Zombie scenarios have also been received poorly as of recent due to the concept being easy to start with and usually ending with humanity driven to extinction, though with some exceptions. Given how scenarios like The Awakening and Zombie Plague skyrocketed in views, it has become tempting for many to try and piggyback on their success.
    • Alien invasion scenarios will often start with objects detected, followed by sporadic attacks, then worldwide chaos through a full invasion. The cookie-cutter formula has been disliked due to how easy it is to use.
    • Asteroid impact scenarios have become prone to being used often as plots due to its simplicity and use as an apocalyptic story.
    • Even some creators are prone to having this occur.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Demonetized. Explanation
  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • Razin the Changeling is an EAS content creator who involved himself into drama due to a misunderstanding with another creator over assuming said creator hated all members in a different community he was a part of when it wasn’t the case. Since then, he’s been very vocal in attacking other creators while still being active.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Scenarios such as "Break In" or "Error" lean HARD into this trope, introducing unknown creatures that take over TV broadcasts and break into peoples homes to take them away or outright kill them.
  • Special Effect Failure: Due to a lack of checking for mistakes, mostly on accident, this can occur. This happens very often to even the most well-known creators.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Despite the presence of children in the community, the videos are not meant to be watched by younger viewers, due to some content having unsettling themes.
