YMMV / Disorganization XIII

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • As the series began before the release of Re: Chain of Memories, western audiences didn't know how to pronounce Marluxia's name properly, and neither did the show's creators. Thus Marluxia's name is misspelled for the entirety of the series.
    • Vexen being The Friend Nobody Likes in this series becomes funnier when in Kingdom Hearts III, he is only brought back into the true Organization XIII as a reserve member (along with Demyx), and gets Rescued from the Scrappy Heap when he becomes The Mole in the Organization.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Saïx's flanderized Undying Loyalty to Xemnas becomes this when latter games reveal that he joined Xehanort's Seekers of Darkness out of jealousy towards Axel's friendship with Roxas and Xion and isn't happy about it.
    • Xemnas was already a pretty clear Bad Boss in the series, something this show had fun hamming it up with. Then later games reveal that he'd been attempting to groom the Organization members into forgoing their senses of self so that they could serve as hosts for Master Xehanort's heart. He ends up dying having come to regret how terribly he treated the Organization.
    • Sora's Roaring Rampage of Revenge when Xemnas claims to have kidnapped Kairi becomes harder to watch when in III, Xemnas kidnaps Kairi and brings her to Master Xehanort to be executed, which in turn leads to Sora's own quasi-death when he overuses the Power of Waking to revive her.
  • Values Dissonance:
    • The series was released around the time in the late 2000's/early 2010's when LGBTQ+ acceptance was only just getting started. Thus to a modern audience, the rampant gay jokes about Marluxia and Saïx are horrifically offensive.
    • Lexaeus being played as an over-the-top cariacture of a black man by a white voice actor is also far less acceptable at the end of the 2010's than it was when the series took place.
