YMMV / D2

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The end credits of D2 talk on length about how nature seems to be dying.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Every time the game shows Stock Footage and statistics not related to the main story.
    • During Laura's boss fight against Janine's grandpa, he rambles about spending time with Janine and talks about how to perform a pigeon trick involving doves. While one might chalk this up to some creepy Boss Banter with the circumstances, the moment arrives when Janine's grandpa proceeds to not only make a dove fly out of his coat, but said dove then inexplicably grows to massive size, and picks him up briefly by his lone tentacle to make an aerial target for Laura. Alternatively, the dove will be black instead of white and try to directly attack her. Further on into the battle, the dove can opt to just turn on him and peck the ever-loving crap out of the tentacle like it's a worm, allowing Laura to blast away pretty much half of his health. To cap things off, once Laura has defeated him, he'll inflate like a balloon and explode, releasing a flock of normal-sized doves that fly off. None of this is ever explained at all.
  • Narm: While D2 voice acting seems to be quite improved, the cartoony Stock Sound Effects are out of place, the hammy final boss is out of place, and how Laura seems to be only capable of calling other characters names.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Many, but the two that stand out is the mutant mutations of the named characters, and Janine's death scene in which this child screams in agony about becoming deaf and blind, while pleading for help from Laura who can only watch in anguish.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The battle in "D2" a first person shooter in which you can only stand still like in Beach Head or other arcade shooters, and with many enemies are blatant bullet sponges. At least this time Eno uses a more traditional save feature, and you can carry limitless amount of ammo, weapons, and healing items.
  • The Scrappy: Kimberly rubs many audience members the wrong way, mostly due to her constant talking, redundant questions (primarily regarding Laura's Trauma-Induced Amnesia), and often obstructive dislike of Parker, who only ever tries to help the main cast in the game.
  • Squick: The battle against Xilo eventually becomes this for its grotesque sexual imagery.
  • That One Boss: D2's Martha, who is constantly moving, can cause a lot of damage, and her weak point is oddly hard to hit (her violin), meaning you have to slowly chip away at her health unless you get a lucky shot. The fact that she never stops saying the same thing increases the annoyance factor.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: D2 implies several times that the world isn't faring any better than it is in the ice caps, characters can die on a whim or worse in the most horrific and violent ways possible, and overall seems completely hopeless. The Reset Button Ending is barely any comfort.
