YMMV / Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This game and its counterpart are meant to be Crash and Spyro crossovers. Sixteen years later, Crash and Spyro meet once again in the sixth installment of the Skylanders series, Skylanders Imaginators.
  • Sequelitis: This game is not held in as high regard as even the previous Game Boy Advance Crash games, The Huge Adventure and N-Tranced, due to its increased focus on minigames and its wasted potential.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Most critics and fans list the platforming and mini game selection as mediocre, though praise the connectivity options. It is generally rated slightly higher than Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy.
  • That One Level:
    • The weight-lifting minigames. You better be able to press the A button fast.
    • Worse than that are the helicopter levels, simply because there's so much that you have to pay attention to. You have to shoot a certain number of falling mini-tanks with a remote-controlled helicopter before they hit the ground. If they hit the ground, they'll make a kamizaze run towards you, which you then have to evade with Crash's mech's legs using the B button. Some of the mini-tanks have shields, making them harder to hit, and others still can shoot back at the helicopter. If either the helicopter or the mech are destroyed, you have to start the level all over again. Oh, and there's only a limited number of mini-tanks to shoot, and the helicopter can't shoot or move while evading them, so even one missed mini-tank can turn into several, which can easily cost you the level.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: There is endless potential to a Crash and Spyro Crossover that wasn't utilised in this light minigame compendium.
