YMMV / Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou

• Cult Classic: This show was not very popular when it aired as many found the first episode to be very confusing and it didn't help that it aired the same season as One-Punch Man and sequels to popular shows like Haikyuu!! and Noragami in what many anime fans were already declaring a "dry" season. However the show gained a considerable following among anime bloggers and critics who watched the show beyond the first episode and found that it maturely deconstructed many aspects of the modern day superhero.
• Fandom Rivalry: With One-Punch Man, another anime about superheroes that aired the same season (in regards to the first cour of Concrete Revolutio). While Concrete Revolutio remained more obscure due to its confusing storytelling, One-Punch Man immediately achieved mainstream success. However many fans of Concrete Revolutio find that the show is smarter than its competition and does a much better job of tapping into modern day superhero culture despite its obscurity.
• Fan Nickname: "Concrete" or "Concretio". Or if Twitter is to be believed, "ConRevo".
• Hilarious in Hindsight: We can now say that this is yet another story where supernatural battles have become commonplace.
• Lost in Medias Res: A common complaint among Western viewers is that the anime is near incomprehensible at the beginning, due to the lack of exposition and the seemingly bizarre nature of the story. This is justified however as the anime is a lot easier to follow for Japanese viewers, due to how heavily the story is tied to Shouwa era culture and storytelling. Indeed, the fact that the story is set in an Alternate History at all isn't made immediately obvious.
