  • Crazy Is Cool: 3x03 (Sergeant Reckless), 6x01 (Lt-Col. Jack Churchill), 6x04 (Julie d'Aubigny), and 8x03 (Juan Pujol Garcia) feature the crew taking someone who is already a case of this (horse serving in Korean War, Bagpipes-playing claymore-and-longbow-wielding WWII soldier, Opera singing French swordfighter, and WWII double agent spy with hilariously brilliant tactics, respectively) and joking about them being even more over-the-top.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The group is not above stepping over the line if the opportunity presents itself, but special mention has to go to the rabbit conspiracy Running Gag in 3x06, where Chris and Gary make references to the Kennedy assassination while acting like the Teletubbies did it.
    • 1x08, "The Flag of Mars and Rods from God" opens with over five minutes of the lads riffing on a fictional chocolate war, with descriptions of Freddos as casualties with missing limbs and "caramel guts spread across the battlefield" á la Saving Private Ryan.
    • 6x05: "Acoustic Kitty and Bat Bombs" is filled with this. It says a lot when a joke about disturbing surgeries performed on a cat is one of the most tame jokes of the evening.
    • On the other hand, 4x02: "Project Cybersyn and Military Fridges" was an attempt at this kind of humor (especially the "Happy Birthday" tangent). Tom, however, views this as an episode as an Old Shame invoked because the series' Chilean audience found the jokes insensitive.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite only appearing in two episodes, Will Seaward's stand-in appearance is very fondly remembered due to how well he gelled with the rest of the crew, and for being responsible for several of the show's funniest moments. The comment section is bound to have at least one mention of "PANTHERS?" in it somewhere.
  • Growing the Beard: In the bonus footage for 5x01, Tom posits that the gang grew theirs around series 3, when the episodes became a bit more cohesive and focused on the article while still retaining the off-the-wall insane tangents they were already known for. Gary, naturally, takes joking offense.
  • Heartwarming Moments: From 2x05: The Flitch of Bacon and a Goose on a Train, when Tom explains what a married couple would have to vow about their marriage to be awarded the titular flitch:
Tom: That you don't regret it. That for that year and a day, you have never... Now I'm not going to ask you that, Gary.
Gary: Well let's put it this way: I'm due me some bacon.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: During 4x05: Victor Lustig and Binary Points, Gary Brannan expresses disappointment that there is not a circus atop the Eiffel Tower, and proceeds to describe such a hypothetical circus. In October 2016, 8 months after the episode dropped, The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air) debuted, with an almost identical premise.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: MYSTERY BISCUITS!
  • Tear Jerker:
    • In 3x02, Tom telling the story of how the great auk went extinct, especially the way he describes two hunters cold-bloodedly snapping the necks of the last two auks and then smashing their eggs for fun.
    • In 5x04, Tom tells the story of the Camp Bonifas Axe Murder Incident. He skims over the graphic bits, but it's still quite dark.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: When the series ended many fans were slightly annoyed that the group never got around to doing Emojli, a failed social media platform run by Matt and Tom where users could only talk in emoji's, or even Tom's own Wikipedia page. While Tom has said that they wouldn't do it since it would just be a 15-minute roast of the two, it would be a fitting send-off for a show with this much friendly ribbing.
