- Can't Un-Hear It: Prior to Charles Martinet's rendition achieving widespread popularity, Captain Lou was generally considered to be the definitive portrayer of Mario, via his starring role in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. This was so prominent that most later Mario actors tried to directly imitate Albano's take on the role (to mixed success); the chief reason why Martinet was cast was because he was the only person who didn't do that.

- Vindicated by History: While purists didn't like the involvement of Cyndi Lauper, and Vince bringing celebrities onto the shows in general at the time, it proved to be a major contributing factor in WWE's success in the 1980s, and the whole Rock N' Wrestling Connection created a whole new generation of fans. It led to WWE and NBC creating the Saturday Night's Main Event series of TV specials.
