YMMV / Broken Bow

• Adaptational Jerkass: Dionysus is a total Troll, not saying anything to Armani about Lya braiding his hair. However, it's not inconceivable that this might happen in canon, as he very clearly dislikes the campers. However, it's harder to see canon Chiron going along with him on this.
  • Hades and Nico both get this in Book 2.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Yeah, Orion is not quite how this fic depicted him. He has similar history, but the tragedy of his past with Artemis has a much harsher twist to it. Thanks Gaea.
  • Apollo being yelled at by Zeus for being, well, himself, is not as fun to see after the later series in the Riordanverse show that Zeus is very much not pleasant to Apollo.
    • In addition, the fic uses all of the positive tropes Zeus displayed in the original series, and thus looks very odd when reflected on all of the negative traits expanded or added upon in later series.
• Heartwarming Moments: Several:
  • "A sign that, now and forever, you are mine, Armani Dove."
  • The Big Damn Kiss of Aren and Armani at the end of Book 5.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Given his history with the Artemis Fowl Universe, Armani may be surprised to learn that Elves and several other races in the world of The People do exist in his world. They just are different (the Elves are taller for one).
  • Bringing back past opponents to cause problems isn't something unique to this fic. See Gaea's revived mortals in the Heroes of Olympus Series. Heck one of the first ones shown is Midas, and given that the later book had Gaea revive faded Gorgons such a event could even still happen in the Broken Bow Universe. Armani would probably enjoy beating him up for his actions.
  • Hippolytos does in fact exist in the Riordanverse. He's probably dead by the time the series starts.
  • Unlike the Nico of Selene Dove's Earth, Canon Nico would not have to worry about the side effects of Aphrodite's magic affecting the Hunters around him. He'd have a lot more to worry about with Armani Dove's exposure to the magic.
  • This story would not be the last tale tied to the Riordanverse to feature multiverse madness in Miami: Sal and Gabi Break the universe of the Rick Riordan Presents line also takes place in the city.
• My Real Daddy: Despite being an OC from a relatively obscure fanfic outside its titual fandom (where it is fairly well known and regarded), Armani is a popular and established character in the long-running role-playing series A Gameof Gods. Players are more familiar and attached to the version played by troper Tv Tropes Noob than Xed Alpha’s version.
