Complete Monster: Gothel is not only horrible towards Rapunzel, but started a petty (albeit, implied to be bloodless) feud between two countries because her boyfriend dumped her.
Older than You Think: Possibly, a lot of details used in Tangled, Disney's adaptation of Rapunzel, appeared in this movie, most notably having Rapunzel be a painter and a kidnapped princess, and some of the costume designs.
