  • Retroactive Recognition: If you're familar with Mock the Week, The Thick of It and many of his other comedy appearances and works, Miles Jupp becomes the most recognisable face in the show.
  • Special Effects Failure: The CGI in the intro. The front of the bus is flat, and everything looks plastic. Not to mention the opening shot of Edie McCredie's bus is obviously stretched from 4:3. Thankfully, it got better overtime.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: With the premise involving the residents of a village in the UK getting into normal everyday dilemmas, it's probably the closest we'll get to a live-action adaptation of the The Trumptonshire Trilogy.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The series mostly averts this, but there are still some examples.
    • While this series averts this for the most part, Suzie Sweet's song "Suzie's Cooking" and Penny Pocket's song "Sort It" sound like early 2000s Black Eyed Peas songs. Penny's favourite song is even listed in the annual as "Where Is The Love?".
    • There have also been uses of VHS tapes (even in Series 4, the final series) and pre-touch screen mobile phones as well. The episode "Likes and Don't Likes" has a Spice Girls CD as its main focus.
