YMMV / Attack on Titan: Junior High

• Awesome Music:
  • The opening theme, "Seishun wa Hangeki no you ni" sounds appropriately light-hearted and awesome. (Bonus points, it's the same band who did the original Attack on Titan opening!)
  • The ending "Hangeki no Daichi" is a helluva headbanger led by the appropriately awesome vocals of Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa, and Kishow Taniyama.
• Tear Jerker: As noted in the Heartwarming page, what was originally a dark apocalyptic tale of war, death, and suffering is now a Lighter and Softer Slice of Life comedy, where everyone who has died now go to school together and have fun adventures. On the other side of the coin, however, while everyone here are friends and schoolmates, this is in stark contrast to the original series, in which Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie's friendships with everyone had been shattered. Even more heartbreaking is much later in the main series, in which even Eren shattered his relationships with Armin and Mikasa due to their opposing views on the war against Marley.
• Unexpected Character: The major Walking Spoiler, Frieda Reiss, makes an appearance in Episode 8. Bonus points in that she can only be seen by Eren and Krista, who have the strongest relationship to her. Eren even freaks out, somewhat referencing the first time he unlocks and uses the Coordinate power. Her appearance has a different role in the manga, being a very kind Hot Teacher.
• What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The original manga was definitely this, including references to pedophilia, child abuse, violence, and sexual humor far beyond its teen+ rating. The anime trades much of these references for absurdist humor.
