- Award Snub: The Hype Backlash against Jennifer Lawrence, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress that year for Silver Linings Playbook (a role that has suffered similar backlash), has amplified the complaints that Riva should have won the award instead. That Riva went on to star in only a few more films before her death in 2017, a few weeks away from her 90th birthday, has only exacerbated this. (She did, however, win a number of accolades for the role anyway, including the BAFTA over Lawrence.)
- Tear Jerker: Definitely one of the more depressing films of the year and is a poignant film to watch for anyone with an aging spouse, parent, grandparent, anyone who hates suffering, especially when it comes to the elderly, or just generally any viewer with a soul.
