YMMV / America: The Motion Picture

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Every major white character is either an obnoxious meathead, a foppish bastard, an idiot savant, clueless or ineffective. Meanwhile, all the main minority characters are far more level-headed and adept (almost superhumanly so), but still have to suffer because of the idiocy of the white people.
  • Awesome Art: Say what you will about the film, but it boasts some pretty impressively smooth animation and a decently stylistic artstyle.
  • Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: While its depiction of Americans is highly contested by American viewers, the depiction of the Brits as over-the-top Evil Brit figures gets far more laughs from British audiences. As it's clearly so over-the-top and not attempting to be remotely accurate, it's far more entertaining than most American Revolution stories tend to be, due to them playing the Evil Brit trope straight without attempt at parody.
  • So Bad, It's Good: While calling it a Cult Classic would be pushing it, a lot of the things that people dislike about it (its over-the-top Eagleland setting, its crass humor, the Ham and Cheese characterization), not to mention its impressive art-style (as stated in Awesome Art above), makes America a fun "turn your brain off" popcorn flick under certain situations.
