YMMV / Agent 47: Birth of the Hitman

Go To

  • Continuity Lockout: This comic series acts as a prequel to the whole Hitman video game series, but it more directly connects to the running story arc found in the World of Assassination Trilogy (made up of Hitman (2016), Hitman 2 and Hitman 3). It also references the Hitman: Enemy Within novel by expanding on Subject 6 and does a Shot-for-Shot Remake of the tutorial for Codename 47, while Ort-Meyers' notes (found in the manual for Codename 47) are also referenced. Hitman 2 and 3 go out of their way to reference comic events, with Diana, Subject 6 (The Shadow Client/Lucas Grey), Agent 47, The Constant, and Ort-Meyer get their actions in this series referenced, which are then shown within in-game cutscenes, and dialog. Basically, the trilogy's story makes significantly more sense if you read this comic beforehand.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Diana is seen living with her uncle, aunt and cousin and attending school. Her interacting with her family and friends could have been a humanising factor, and her school friends could even reappear as future villains with a personal connection to Diana. Alas, it's barely focused on, outside of Diana noting she was getting popular with the other students.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Savi the Arms Dealer is usurped and killed by her own lackeys' on Diana's word by her manipulating said lackeys into thinking she had betrayed them all. Had she not tried to kill Diana, Savi could have remained as Diana's Sink or Swim Mentor and tutor her some more, rather than double-crossing her, and could have even appeared in the present as an old ally or a target in the games.
