At least half of the Victors probably qualify at one point or another in their lives (with a good share of Stoic Woobies and Jerkass Woobies), but some stand out.
- Seawardnote is reaped with his brother's fiancée, forms an alliance with her and is forced to kill her in self-defense, something that it's implied he's never forgiven for back home, causing him to become a junkie.
- Camdennote suffers from Sanity Slippage during his Games and then has to watch his little sister be reaped and die five years later.
- Granytenote returns from the Games a triple amputee, avoided by the family who he sacrificed everything for.
- Thisbenote is mentally destroyed by a truly sadistic arena, then is subjected to severe gaslighting during her Victory Tour, and used as a scapegoat for Snow's first Klingon Promotion.
- Chevynote spends most of his life being shunned by every other Victor besides the ones he mentors, suffers from very bad shell-shock, sees both of the tributes he managed to save die in the Quell, is a bit of a Death Seeker by the time the Mockingjay Rebellion breaks out; and after his death, his beloved family are used as hostages and puppets by the various gangs seeking power over the District, and many die as a result.
- Seedernote 's brother is killed or made an Avox by the Capitol and her father suffers brain damage. She is whipped badly at a young age, and nearly starves to death in her arena. She is pushed into supporting Snow during the Succession Crisis despite severe (and correct) reservations about it. In 43 years, she only saves the life of a single tribute. Her husband is murdered by the Capitol in a show of dominance. And throughout all of that, she never lets herself cry.
- Elenanote loses her husband and children to Snow's pettiness after a years-long Hope Spot that she'd earned a happy ending and becomes a drug addict numb to the world around her.
- Wondernote was torn away from a happy childhood to what he described as years of "hell" at the DAEYD. He Volunteers for the Games to avoid being sold as a concubine and then found out that he would still becomes a Sex Slave anyway, with his boyfriend being killed and dismembered when they try to flee District 1 even as Wonder was sent to his first customer. He spends the rest of his life as a drug addict and kills himself after a decade due to being convinced the abuse would never end just a few months before District 1 got their next male victor, who might have taken some of the unwelcome attention and pressure from the people Snow pimped Wonder out to.
- Haymitchnote , as per canon. He never saves a tribute before Katniss and Peeta, has his ally die in the Games, loses his family back in 12, and spends the rest of his life remembering the names of all 47 of the kids who died so he could come home no matter how hard he drinks, while unable to hang onto happier memories like the color of his girlfriend's eyes.
- Blightnote is falsely accused of being a Peacekeeper's illegitimate son at a young age. His mother is taken from the District and his father, brothers and most of their neighbors spend the next decade or so beating and starving Blight. And then he has to suffer still additional scorn from them due to the District's (at the time) homophobia. His own family Volunteers him for the Games without his knowledge, then his best friend in the Games is dismembered alive for seven hours in front of him. His District partner suffers a bad mental breakdown in front of him. And when it looks like he'd finally gotten a happy ending, a lot of the people he cared about, including the man he loves, die while being used as Unwitting Test Subjects for a Capitol bio-weapon.
- Mittnote is a jovial Class Clown who manages to survive the Antarctic arena without a kill but comes out with heavy frostbite and even deeper mental scars that cause him to spend the rest of his life shot up on morphling due to always feeling the cold from the arena; constantly slumping over and drooling in public, and sleeping on the floor as close to his heater as he can.
- Cecelianote has to become a prostitute at fourteen to feed her family. Her father drinks himself to death out of worry for her while she's in the arena. She has a pretty traumatizing time (having to kill a lot of people, being Buried Alive for several days etc.) and years after her Games, her sister is reaped for Enobaria's Games.
- Enobarianote is orphaned in a landslide at a young age. She is captured and tortured by marauders living outside of the Districts who brutally kill her three closest friends. She is convinced to Volunteer for the Games (having to Mercy Kill an ally who was tortured pretty badly and being betrayed by friends) to get revenge, only for it to come at the cost of being forced to save as Snow's personal assassin despite realizing how it wasn't worth it almost from the beginning.
- Cashmerenote grows up without many friends and joined the DAEYD just to avoid being separated from her twin brother. She tries to drop out after he won the 63rd Hunger Games but is forced to go into the 64th Games anyway. She watches her brother suffer from a bad case of Murder Makes You Crazy and has some of the worst Sex Slave treatment of the Victors. Her father is killed on Snow's orders. And eleven years after her Games, she is selected to be reaped for the 3rd Quarter Quell despite clearly not wanting to go back there. And upon offering to help the Rebel tributes is told that the best way to do so would be to play the villain and distract the Capitol, while also requesting death for herself and her brother in the arena.
- Abramnote is bullied for most of his life, has a bad These Hands Have Killed reaction to his the first death he causes, becomes a joke for Capitol pundits until he starts working out and suffers severe body confidence issues afterwards anyway. When the Rebellion broke out, he loses his mentor and several friends in the first battle at the viewing center, and he returns to help with the Rebellion in 9 to find his beloved mother hanged in front of their sweet shop.
