What An Idiot / Sonic vs. MLP

• In "Sonic Vs. Rainbow Dash", Rouge and Rarity accidentally lug a massive diamond in Rainbow Dash's path.
  You'd Expect: for the former two to hear their speedy friends coming and quickly move the diamond out of their way, or ditch the diamond and run so they aren't injured by it.
  Or: For Rainbow Dash to give them a heads up or, you know, fly around them.
  Instead: RD flies straight through the diamond, shattering it and injuring its carriers.
• Knuckles and Applejack watch the race from the sidelines, when them flying by causes a cactus to uproot and slam into the latter.
  You'd Expect: Knuckles to help get the cactus off of Applejack, or at least curse the speedy duo similar to how he did in Sonic Advance 2.
  Instead: He points and laughs, which gets that very same cactus driven through his torso.
• While the race is going on, Big is casually fishing in a boat with Derpy Hooves flying around nearby.
  You'd Expect: That even with her skewed vision that she either lands carefully on the boat or avoids it entirely. She's clumsy, not stupid.
  Instead: Not only does Derpy crash into the fishing boat, but she shoots through it straight into the lake, sinking the boat and killing them both.
• Tails and Twilight wait for Sonic and RD at the finish line and sees them both approaching at impossible speeds.
  You'd Expect: That being the brains of their respective groups, they get the hell out of the way (which they can do via teleportation if there was no time to run) and let them finish unimpeded.
  Instead: They just stand there looking at each other with Oh, Crap! expressions on their faces. The resulting explosion nearly kills them.
• In "Tails Vs. Twilight", Twilight bragging about her magic abilities to Tails, a Child Prodigy and a professional scientist, raises a few flags in the latter's mind.
  You'd Expect: Tails to at least remember the seven magic artifacts that his best friend uses on a regular basis, or every Eldritch Abomination they face (one of which powered by said artifacts) that science clearly can't explain. He's naive, not stupid.
  Instead: He doesn't bring any of that stuff up, and instead says that magic either isn't real or is for little kids, stirring up the plot of the short.
• Just about out of options, Twilight accidentally throws Tails against a tree with her magic, apologizing afterwards and admitting that the spell she cast was too strong for her intentions.
  You'd Expect: Tails to at least listen to her if not accept her apology.
  Instead: He pulls out his arm cannon and opens fire.
  Thus: They end up in a fight so intense that they end up battered and bloodied in a crater resulting from their prior Beam-O-War, Tails still isn't convinced that magic exists until Princess Celestia shows up behind him and sends him to the moon.
• In "Amy vs Pinkie Pie", Shadow and Gilda are pursued by an army of Mirror Pool clones of the titular characters.
  You'd Expect: Shadow to use his Chaos Control to warp out of harm's way and Gilda fly up and away. After all, Amy can't track Shadow down on her own and Pinkie can't stand on clouds.
  Instead: They simply run/fly down the street with the army of clones right on their heels.
• In "Knuckles Vs. Applejack", Knuckles finally makes a full recovery from his cactus-related injury.
  You'd Expect: Knuckles to leave Applejack alone, since she was the one who caused said injury in the first place.
  Instead: He angrily bursts into the Sweet Apple Acres barn to call her out on it, only stopping when he gets distracted by her Iron Pony trophy.
• Knuckles then begins searching for the Chaos Emeralds so he can win the Iron Pony competition against Applejack.
  You'd Expect: For him to go looking for the emeralds alone, since he's more than capable of doing so.
  Instead: He asks Sonic for them, despite not being present when he used them.
• Sonic asks why he needs them, and Knuckles explicitly says he's going to use them to cheat in the Iron Pony Competition.
  You'd Expect: Sonic or Rainbow Dash to call Knuckles out for trying to cheat against Applejack.
  Instead: When Knuckles says that it was to get back at her for beating him at arm-wrestling, Sonic and RD burst out laughing the moment he leaves.
• After gathering the emeralds and activating his Super form, he challenges Applejack in front of a lot of their friends, including Sonic and RD.
  You'd Expect: Sonic to immediately recognize his pink color as his Super Form, and tell Applejack as Knuckles is challenging her.
  Instead: He lets Knuckles challenge Applejack, and doesn't speak up until Applejack loses almost every challenge.
• After learning that Knuckles was cheating, Applejack is understandably pissed. She quickly goes to Knuckles about it.
  You'd Expect: For her to go about it in at least a level-headed manner or reveal to the crowd that Knuckles was cheating the whole time. After all, as the Element of Honesty, their trust should easily be in her favor rather than some cocky echidna, right?
  Instead: She lets her anger get the best of her, blurting out a string of swears and making herself seem like a Sore Loser, which Knuckles takes advantage of.
