Main installments

    Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • Chapter 2 has two of these, one about the victim ("This...this girl is...! ...is a boy!"), and the other about the reveal of Genocide Jack's identity ("In fact, it's Toko.").
  • In Chapter 4:
    • First, "I am sorry... for keeping quiet." Spoken by Sakura, confirming that she is The Mole.
    • And then in the trial: "It's because I killed the ogre!!" No one expected Yasuhiro, of all people, to confess.
    • Followed by...
      Aoi: I killed Sakura!
    • And then the biggest one in that chapter:
Monokuma: It's a suicide letter. The one Sakura wrote.
Makoto: S... Suicide letter...!? But Hina already...!
Monokuma: Oh, I wrote that one. It was all me, baby.
    • And one more, along a different tone. Up until now, Byakuya has ranged from obnoxious asshole to outright antagonist, and has repeatedly spoken about how it's foolish to trust others in a game where the students have been challenged to kill each other. Which is what makes this line following the trial so surprising to both Monokuma and the player:
Byakuya: This is a life-or-death elimination match. The only way to survive... is to win. There can be no doubt that those are the rules of the game. Which is why... I am bowing out of the game.
  • From the start of Chapter 5:
    Kyoko: Mukuro Ikusaba.
    Makoto: What...?
Kyoko: Mukuro Ikusaba, the sixteenth student, lying hidden somewhere in the school. The one they call the Ultimate Despair. Watch out for her.
  • From Chapter 5, which pretty much blows all others out of the water:
Monokuma: This school life of mutual killings is being completely broadcasted live on TV all over Japan!
  • Later on:
Monokuma: I've been waiting until all of you get here. We can't begin without the entire group, can we?
  • It might not be too shocking, but it's still big.
Kyoko: Because [the headmaster]'s my father.
  • Invoked in Chapter 6, which doesn't seem like one until the Fridge Horror kicks in.
Monokuma: This killing game began with sixteen participants, all of them high school students. And the only people to take a single step in Hope's Peak since the killing game began... are those sixteen students.

    Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
  • Played for Laughs in Chapter 1, when Teruteru suddenly drops his laid-back composure and starts speaking in a country accent upon being accused of being the killer.
Teruteru: I told ya to wait a sec, ain't IIIIII!?
  • As Mikan is finally found out in the Chapter 3 trial and starts to really lose it, she drops a line that reveals that the events of this game aren't so disconnected from the rest of the franchise as one might have thought...
Mikan: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...! Haaa... It's been suuuuuuuch a long time... This feeling... I know it well... Like the floor is collapsing... Like the sky is falling down upon you... ...This feeling of despair!
  • During the Chapter 5 trial, Chiaki starts acting strangely, ending with this, indirectly identifying herself as The Mole.
Chiaki: But ... there's nothing they could have done ... since even if they had wanted to confess ... they couldn’t have ... Because they weren't made that way. So ... I want you guys to try and guess. (...) The Future Foundation spy, the traitor hidden amongst us... who do you think it is?
  • After Chapter 5's trial, Nagito leaves the survivors one last message, revealing the password in Nezumi Castle that he scratched out which opens the ruins door. This revelation is aided by "New World Order" kicking in.
Nagito: 11037. That... is the password that was written in Nezumi Castle. You have to use that to enter that specific place. That's the only way you can escape Monokuma.
  • During Chapter 6:
Junko: Izuru Kamukura is very much alive. Isn't that right... Hajime!?

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School
Future Arc
  • In Episode 10. "The killing is over! I found out who the attacker is!"

Despair Arc

  • At the end of episode 2. "Hello. I am Natsumi Kuzuryu."
  • The end of Episode 9. "Chisa Yukizome Doesn't Smile"
  • The very end of Episode 11, "continued to the hope side", confirming the existence of a combined Grand Finale.

Spin-offs

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls
  • When Nagito encounters Komaru and Toko near the secret exit from the city in Chapter 4, he makes the following line, whch reveals Toko's true reason for accompanying Komaru.
Nagito: Rather, the one who disappointed me was Toko. [...] (to Toko) Now, perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe we made a promise. You were to escort her to headquarters.
  • In Chapter 5, Komaru is possessed by Tokuichi Towa's ghost, and asks if he's Haiji's father. Tokichi not only confirms it, but also reveals that another person Komaru knows is part of the family.
Tokuichi (speaking through Komaru) : I see... You know Haiji. Then do you know his little sister Monaca, too?
  • For the entire game, Komaru has been desperate to escape Towa City, a goal that's merely put on hold near the end of the game. As such, this exchange after the Final Boss comes off as quite a surprise.
Komaru: I...I know I can save both the adults and the children.
Toko: Well, we can chat about it after we get out of this damn town once and for all!
Komaru: Toko... I... I'm staying in this town.

    Killer Killer
  • Chapter 8 ends with Dougami calling Hijirihara and saying "Mukuro Ikusaba broke out!"
