A preteen worm finds himself on the surface after being scooped up by an excavator, and must stop an evil rolly polly from enslaving all worms.
The film provides examples of the following:
- Broken Pedestal: Junior and his friends go to meet Junior's idol, Mr. Jumping, in the hopes of getting him to help them defeat Big Wig, but Mr. Jumping turns out to be a huge jerk who's uninterested in the prospect.
- Chekhov's Gun: Junior's grandfather made claims of seeing a bug on TV a few times. Later on the film, it turns out he was seeing Big Wig, but was unaffected by his hypnosis due to the fact that he's deaf.
- How We Got Here: The film begins with construction equipment digging through some dirt, followed by a shot of Junior and Nico being scooped up by an excavator, then the film shifts to earlier in the day, showing how they got to that point.
