Charlie Brown: I think a boy growing up should have a dog of his own. A dog to greet him when he comes home from school. A dog to go to the park with him and fetch a stick or a ball. A boy without a dog is like a day without sunshine.
Linus: I thought that was a meal without wine.

Snoopy's Reunion is the 34th animated TV special based upon the comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. It originally aired on CBS on May 1, 1991.

This special's plot is about Snoopy missing his siblings (Spike, Belle, Olaf, Andy, Marbles, Rover, and Molly) and wanting a big family reunion at their birthplace, the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. This special also shows and expands upon the backstory of Snoopy that was stated in the strip and in Snoopy, Come Home (along with changing it somewhat), Snoopy and his siblings being shown as puppies, and his adoption by Lila, who later had to return him, as well as, of course, being adopted by Charlie Brown.

A list of tropes is needed!

Snoopy's Reunion contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Expansion: Showing the full story of when Snoopy and his siblings were puppies, his backstory with Lila, and getting adopted by Charlie Brown that was not only said in many strips but also the movie Snoopy, Come Home.
  • Adapted Out: In some strips, Snoopy says his father was there with them at Daisy Hill, but he is nowhere to be seen in this special.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Even though the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm is gone because it was demolished to put a parking garage in its place, Snoopy and his siblings are still happy with their reunion because they still got to visit the area they were born at.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Molly and Rover who did not appear in the strip proper, but Snoopy mentioned having other nameless siblings.
  • No Animals Allowed: The reason why Lila is forced to give up Snoopy, as the landlord of her apartment complex forbids animals.
  • Precious Puppy: All of Snoopy and his siblings' scenes as puppies are absolutely adorable and precious.
  • Retcon:
    • This special does have changes compared to the strip and Snoopy, Come Home, such as retconning how Charlie Brown got Snoopy. In the strip, he got Snoopy as a gift from his parents after bullies poured a bucket of sand on his head, causing him to cry.
    • In the strip, Snoopy found out that the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm was taken down for a parking lot when he was taking Woodstock to see his old home and he was very upset compared to in this special.
    • The Daisy Hill Puppy Farm seems to be a normal farm with only Snoopy's family being there, whereas many times in the strip state that multiple dogs were being bred and sold there, with Snoopy having to give a speech to the dogs there in a storyline.
    • Zigzagged with Molly and Rover, as while they were never shown in the strip and not officially included with Snoopy's family, in the strip, Snoopy has stated he did have eight siblings in his litter before.
  • There Are No Adults: One of the very few Peanuts specials to avert this. At the start, the owner of the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm is shown in full view multiple times, while when Charlie Brown, Sally, Snoopy, and his siblings are being taken to Daisy Hill, the bus driver is fully shown and is seen talking to Charlie Brown.
  • Wham Shot: After Charlie Brown, Sally, Snoopy, and his siblings are dropped off by the bus at Daisy Hill, which appears to be the wrong area, Charlie Brown goes rummaging in the nearby landfill, and finds the sign for the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm buried in it. It's at this point that he realizes it was plowed down and had a parking garage placed over it.
