Oh, Mr. Toad is a Spin-Off from The Wind in the Willows, focusing on Mr. Toad. It was repackaged as season 5 of the main Wind in the Willows series when they were released on DVD.
This TV series provides examples of:
- Birthday Episode: As you would expect, the episode Happy Birthday! is one of these.
- Bookends: Each episode begins and ends with Mr. Toad writing in his diary about the events that have occurred.
- Bragging Theme Tune: The opening credits. "The world has held great heroes as history books have shown, but never a name went down in fame compared to that of Toad!"
- Mission-Pack Sequel: Given the previous seasons of Wind in the Willows were already usually centred around Toad's antics, Oh, Mr. Toad! is pretty much the same but with the formalities cut.
- Perpetual Motion Machine: Mr. Toad tries to make one of these in the episode Toad in Motion, with the help of a professor.
- The Piano Player: Mr. Toad becomes one of these in the episode Piano Roll Toad. More accurately, he's just using a piano roll to try and pose himself as one.
- "Silly Me" Gesture: Mr Toad does this in Piano Roll Toad...only to hurt his head by doing such.
- Spinning Paper: The episode Mr. Toad of the Times has one of these.
- Team Rocket Wins: The weasels for once get the last laugh in Piano Roll Toad (if largely because they weren't after Toad Hall this time and just ruin Toad's deceitful grandstanding for a laugh).
- Time Machine: Mr. Toad builds one of these in the episode A Toad in Time. However, it doesn't work.
- Unrequited Love: In "Toad in Love", Toad develops feelings for an actress, who unbeknownst to him is already married. His friends try to break the news gently.
