Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines was one of the shows featured in the 1985 anthology series Super Sunday, starting off as 9 six-minute segments before being edited into a Compilation Movie that ran for less than an hour. As with the other segments featured on the anthology, Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines existed to promote one of Hasbro's toylines, specifically their subsidiary Playskool's line of toy trucks based on the real-life trucks that were used in the cartoon.

The premise entails a woman named Jennifer McGraw finding a map leading to the fabled Fountain of Youth and going on an adventure with the drivers of the trucks Bigfoot, Black Gold, the Orange Blossom Special and War Lord to find the fountain, along the way having to watch out for efforts to stop them by a reclusive tycoon named Adrian "Mr. Big" Ravenscroft, who wishes to use the fountain himself.

Unlike its fellow segments Jem and Inhumanoids, but much like Robotix, Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines did not get picked up for a full-fledged television series.

Bigfoor and the Troper Machines:

  • Big Bad: Adrian Ravenscroft is the main antagonist, as he's trying to beat our heroes to the Fountain of Youth and doing whatever he can to try and prevent the heroes from making it to the fountain.
  • Deus ex Machina: The miniseries ends with War Lord's driver Close McCall stumbling upon an earthquake that unveils a bunch of treasures, which immediately solves our heroes' money problems and gives them a means to pay for the repairs their trucks need after the damages their vehicles sustained during their adventures.
  • Fountain of Youth: Our heroes and their adversary Adrian Ravenscroft spend the series searching for the Fountain of Youth. Ravenscroft ends up using it to restore his youth before our heroes destroy the fountain and its youth-restoring effects on Ravenscroft wear off.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: Black Gold's drivers are a pair of red-haired twin sisters named Red and Redder. The former wears a white jumpsuit and the latter wears a yellow one.
  • MegaCorp: Ravenscroft seems to own all sorts of odd businesses all over the country, which naturally gives him a large advantage in tracking down Bigfoot.
  • Merchandise-Driven: The miniseries was made to promote Playskool's toys of the trucks that were used in the cartoon.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: The villain Ravenscroft is last seen wandering into a swamp filled with alligators, where it is implied he will meet his demise.
  • We Will Meet Again: Ravenscroft promises to return for revenge as his restored youth wears off and he wanders into the swamp. A remark from one of the heroes and a shot of one of the alligators in the swamp call into question on whether he'd come back, however.
