On an isolated prison island, a young and badly-injured amnesiac boy is saved by a mysterious stranger, and her equally enigmatic companion. As memories of a dark and dreadful past unravel, the group must fight to survive and escape during a dangerous prison break. A twisted trail of crime, depravity, and deadly secrets awaits.

So begins Uriah, an ongoing Swedish Horror webcomic by Toffuo published as an Original on Line Webtoon. It began serialization on April of 2019, and the second season premiered in March of 2020. The third and final season will be published in 2021.

Uriah contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Kristin and Tomas are violent psychopaths, and it comes as no surprise that they're monsters to their children. They are abusive in just about every way.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Bo calls the boy his "Bullfinch".
  • Amnesiac Hero: The boy is this due to trauma.
  • Attempted Rape: Implied to be what Tomas was going to do with the boy before he murdered him.
  • Berserker Tears: Vincent cries as he forces the boy to stab an already-dead Tomas 17 times.
  • Big Brother Bully: Vincent is this to the boy.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: The boy's family is this.
  • Bungled Suicide: Vincent wakes up after a suicide attempt by overdose in Chapter 46.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name: Vincent always calls Tomas by his name because he hates him.
  • Carved Mark: Kristin carved the words "MURDERER" into the boy's back after he killed Tomas.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: The boy impersonated the deceased Uriah, but not by choice.
  • Driven to Suicide: Anita, but the suspicious circumstances of her death have been called into question by multiple characters, suggesting that it may have been murder.
  • The Family That Slays Together: Bo, Kristin, Tomas, and Vincent.
  • Freudian Excuse: Vincent's upbringing assisting his parents with their snuff films explains his sociopathic and violent tendencies. It's also implied that he was abused.
  • Morality Pet: The boy is this to Bo.
  • murder.com: Kristin and Tomas broadcast their murders online.
  • Murderers Are Rapists: Tomas had garnered a following online for raping and murdering people in live shows. According to Vincent, he has killed 17 victims that way. The boy was about to become the 18th.
  • Name Amnesia: The boy doesn't even remember his own name.
  • Nordic Noir: The comic takes place in Sweden on a fictional island in an Archipelago named "Vildhamn" (Swedish for "Wildharbor") and has elements of mystery novels and crime stories popular in Sweden.
  • No Name Given: The boy. His name has yet to be revealed. In promotional material, he is referred to as ???.
  • Not So Similar: Bo argues that Vincent and him aren't similar at all, as Vincent never had a choice to live a normal life. That, and he feels remorse for his actions.
  • Offing the Offspring: Tomas was going to do this to the boy, but he killed him first.
  • Patricide: The boy stabs Tomas to death in an act of self-defense.
  • Pervert Dad: Tomas, who was going to rape and murder the boy. And is implied to have abused Vincent.
  • Replacement Goldfish: The boy is Anita's replacement goldfish for her dead son Uriah.
  • Serial Killer: Bo, Kristin, and Tomas.
  • Serial Rapist: Tomas gained a niche audience for his rape-murders.
  • Snuff Film: Bo, Kristin, and Tomas made these together. Vincent helped.
  • Trauma Conga Line: The boy's life.
  • White Sheep: The boy. Lampshaded by Bo.
    Bo: You were a sheep in the middle of a pack of wolves.

Top
