Paper Mario DND is an Actual Play based on the Paper Mario franchise streamed on Twitch by therealyocow.

VODs can be found on Youtube and live performances on Twitch

Paper Mario DND provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In contrast to his canonical counterpart, Metal Sonic is perfectly hospitable to the party, even after they enter his home without permission.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Pibby, the killer of Zomom. This borrows from the interpretation of her seen in Cart Ride Into Get Eaten By Zavok Obby (Who Killed Zomom).
  • Big Bad: Cringe before Zavok.
  • Call-Back: The plot of the campaign starts with Koolumbo heading to Toad Town to attend the Sticker Festival.
  • Continuity Nod: Koolumbo is visiting the Mushroom Kingdom from his hometown of Rogueport, and Shark makes mention multiple times that he's native to the Flower Kingdom.
  • Give Me Back My Wallet: The inciting incident for the campaign is a Goomba running off with Koolumbo's wallet when he's getting drinks for him and Jam, and Nabbit later makes off with Koolumbo's wallet during the gang's search through Hooktail Castle.
Koolumbo: My wallet AGAIN?! COME ON!
Sherbert: Again?! This has happened before?!
  • Lame Pun Reaction: The party briefly considers leaving Koolumbo in prison for the pun he made after rescuing Professor Jam.
Koolumbo: Glad we could get you out of that, eh-heh, jam, he-heh.
Sherbert: Alright, you're going into—You, you're going into time out for that one.
  • He Knows About Timed Hits: In Mario RPG tradition, Professor Jam explains how the combat mechanics work.
  • Run or Die: The party resolves to flee from Zavok and recuperate after realizing they're clearly no match for him yet.
  • Running Gag: Koolumbo's least favorite crime is breaking and entering.
  • So Last Season: When the tutorial battle is resolved, Jam uses a super bomb to properly dispatch of the Goomba that took Koolumbo's wallet. When Jam later tries to save the party by using it against Zavok, it's ineffective against him.
  • The Cameo: Pac-Man makes a brief appearance among the crowd gathering for the Sticker Festival.
  • The Most Dangerous Video Game: The fate that befalls Retro Ron after he's defeated in the VR dimension.
Sherbert: But if you die in the game, you die in real life! Everybody knows this!
  • Nonindicative Name: Not actually played in Dungeons & Dragons but a homebrew system made for the campaign.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Geno makes mention of the "Shovelware Isles", a clear reference to roblox development team Shovelware Studios. Emby, Geno's player, is a member of Shovelware themselves.
  • Take That!:
    • Zomom is called unreliable and untrustworthy after being accidentally misnamed as Zippo, a clear reference to the infamous leaker.
