Salutations, everybody!note

Miss JukeBox 8 is an online series created by Ivy Munger, made up of a series of loosely interconnected YouTube videos and Twitch streams. It started from a YouTube channel that launched under the name MisterJukeBox8 in 2009, when Ivy was seven years old going on eight. Ivy started by posting mostly home-made music videos, some with help from family and some created on her laptop in Windows Movie Maker, until stopping abruptly in 2010.

After laying dormant for five years, the channel would relaunch in 2015 with a reaction video to a promo for the 100th episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. This relaunch brought many recurring video segments like RWBY Rambles and Munger Games, Which share the format of a Video Review Show but about episodes of RWBY and video games respectively, which were tied together with an overarching plot involving Ivy’s Author Avatar, Miss JukeBox 8, alongside a cast of side characters including an internet troll named Trolli Comenz, a 2D Cat Girl from another dimension named Sakura Miyamoto, and a doppelganger who tries way too hard to be scary named SpookBox.

In 2020, Ivy came out as transgender and rebranded her channel as Miss JukeBox 8. This kicked off a new story arc where Miss JukeBox found herself trapped in an alternate universe called Dimension V with a new, more cartoony feminine body. In 2022 she also started doing live streams as a Virtual YouTuber. The series Missing JukeBox 8, of which there is currently only one episode, started in 2023 and follows Trolli and Sakura as they try and rescue Miss JukeBox from Dimension V.

This show provides examples of:

  • Alternate Tooniverse: Dimension V, a two-dimensional pocket dimension Miss JukeBox finds herself in which turned her into a cartoon.
  • Area 51: In the Munger Games episode on Polybius, JukeBox believes Trolli to have broken in there, before he tells her he actually broke into Area 58, which was low on security due to everyone else trying to break into Area 51. Trolli finds Sakura and a copy of Polybius there.
  • Author Avatar: Miss JukeBox 8 is an obvious stand-in for the creator Ivy Munger, which is even more apparent in her live streams, though they've slowly evolved into more of their own character.
  • Breaking the Reviewer's Wall: In the second part of her Doki Doki Literature Club! review, Monika is able to speak directly to JukeBox because her computer's microphone was turned on.
  • Cat Girl: JukeBox's in-universe editor and channel mascot Sakura Miyamoto is one.
  • Drop-In Character: Trolli Comenz is an internet troll who shows up in JukeBox's videos at random times.
  • Evil Doppelgänger: SpookBox is one to JukeBox, and wants to take over her YouTube channel as an Affectionate Parody of dark versions of YouTubers like Darkiplier and Antisepticeye.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: SpookBox's ultimate goal is to do this to the channel. She actually succeeds in October 2021, but doesn't do much more than change the channel icon and repost her TikToks. She succeeded again in October 2022, this time taking over her Twitch account.
  • Message in a Bottle: At the end of her review of Animal Crossing: The Movie, JukeBox finds one of these by a river which reads "The world beyond your screens is bigger than you know." Several videos after this follow her trying to figure out who wrote this message and why.
  • Mid-Review Sketch Show: Munger Games and RWBY Rambles both have skits with an overarching plot in between actually reviewing.
  • Roger Rabbit Effect: Sakura is a 2D character rendered with Gacha Life sprites, stuck in a world of live action.
  • Supernaturally-Validated Trans Person: JukeBox's time in Dimension V gives her a more feminine body, lining up with her real life transition starting around this time.
  • Waxing Lyrical: The dialogue in "If I Had A Little Money" is peppered with lyrics from the ABBA song "Money Money Money".
Rich Mann: You know as well as I that you can get people to do just about anything if you give them a little... money, money, money.
Trolli: It must be funny in your world, huh?
    Rich Mann: It's always sunny!
  • Virtual YouTuber: JukeBox became one in 2022, after gaining the ability to transform into a 3D model via a magic 8 ball she found in Dimension V.
