KRIS' POCKET BAND LORE is a web video series created by a user known as Valma. It consists of Gorillaz music videos, but intentionally sloppily edited to instead be about the Darkners who go in Kris’ pocket in Deltarune, with Spamton playing 2D, Jevil playing Murdoc, Lancer playing Noodle, the Original Starwalker playing Russel, and Rouxls Kaard playing every single one of their guest rappers. As the videos go on, the edits start to change the context of the originals more, getting a bit into The Abridged Series territory.

Can be found on the creator’s Google Photos.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Consent:
    • In the original "Désolé" video, 2D goes on a boat trip with Damon Albarn and Fatoumata Diawara for fun, but in "La Poche de Kris", Spamton is kidnapped by Itchy, who tries to take him home as his slave.
    • The Pink Phantom in "Valley of the Pagans" is just hiding on the back of the car, but in "Pocket of the Kris' Pocketmobiles" it's actually Mettaton, who Jevil kidnapped and glued to his car to "give Lancer a good example".
  • Adaptational Mundanity: Unlike Cyborg Noodle, Chef Lancer seems to not actually be robotic, as when he appears to be malfuctioning in "Kris' Pocketmobile Strikes Back", a text clarifies that he's just stimming, and then falls asleep.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Tsunderplanes in this series are all secretly Titans in disguise and try to kill the band several times.
    • While Itchy has an extensive criminal history in Looming Gaia, he's trying to become a better person, and has lines he's not willing to cross. In this series, he commits multiple homicides offscreen and tries to kidnap and enslave Spamton.
  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: In "Kris has to go to the dentist probably" the only one who seems to be worried about Spamton being about to die is Lancer. Jevil even promises to bring free drinks to his funeral (or "R.I.P.P.I.N.G. party" as a sign calls it) with a smiley face on the sign. After Spamton ends up not dying, Starwalker complains about the lack of free drinks.
  • Bait-and-Switch Compassion: In "La Poche de Kris" after Jevil has been shown crying alone, Spamton talks about how he misses his ex-husband and wonders how he’s doing. But then he clarifies he meant his other ex, Swatch.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: In "Strange Timez IN FRISK'S POCKET", the characters's heads are put on top of their helmets to make them more visible, and a text onscreen clarifies that yes, they aren't wearing helmets in space.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The titular pocket can be the size of a house or even bigger to its residents, depending on the video.
  • Butt-Dialing Mordor: In "Cracker Pocket", it's stated that while the cult the band formed was worshipping Papyrus, they accidentally summoned Darius from AITale instead, who taught them to be homophobic.
  • Cardboard Prison: Both Jevil and Itchy get sent to jail and escape very easily offscreen.
  • Character’s Most Hated Song: By the third time Rouxls sings the exact same rap song in "Dirty Pocket", Spamton threatens to beat him up if he can't think of something different next time. When Rouxls does it again in "Feel Kris' Pocket Inc.", Spamton flips out and tells him to come out so he can hit him with his megaphone. Though he doesn't seem to care in later videos, and in "The Pink Pocket" it's even stated that he's forgiven Rouxls when he raps it again.
  • Cheater Gets Cheated On: In "Cracker Pocket", it's mentioned that when Swatch was married to Spamton, the former cheated on the latter with Blue Addison, so Spamton paid back by cheating on him with Jevil, who in turn cheated on Spamton with Seam.
  • Color-Coded Speech: The characters all have a specific color for their dialogue, whether they're talking in speech bubbles, singing the songs, or have written something, which is useful since you can't see their mouths move most of the time.
  • Death Song: "Kris has to go to the dentist probably" (based on "Aries") turns out to be one halfway though, with the reveal that Spamton is currently dying because Jevil poisoned his cereal, and is driving to his own funeral. But in the end, Jevil ends up bringing him back to life when Spamton reveals that he secretly changed Jevil’s Minecraft password.
  • Decomposite Character:
    • Chef Lancer is a separate person from Lancer, and plays the role of Cyborg Noodle.
    • Wing Gaster is a failed clone of W.D. Gaster, with the former playing the Boogieman and the latter playing Daley and one of the other Horsemen.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first video made, "Kris Pocketwood", ends with everyone dying because of the Roaring, which isn’t brought up at all in the following videos, likely because the creator wasn’t planning on making more at that point.
  • Evil Twin: According to the Song Pocket intro, Jevil has an "evil(er)" twin named Livej.
  • Expressive Shirt: In "We Are So Humble About Being in Kris' Pocket", Jack Black is played by Sans, and his "SAVE US FROM HIM" shirt is edited to say "SANS UNDERTALE". Later, it also says "SANS UNDRERTALE" [sic], "SANS UNDERFUCKINGTALE", "SAS", "SASN", "SANSN", "SANES", and "SATAN".
  • Fiendish Fish: Instead of a whale, Spamton is guarded on Plastic Pocket with a giant and threatening version of Marlin.
Text onscreen: Geddit it’s a clownfish cuz Spamton is scared of clowns
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • In "Lancer and King have father son time (Valma has failed the DARE to come up with a good name for this video)", Lancer briefly stands in front of Shaun Ryder, who is played by King, but Lancer covering him means King's picture can't be put over him without covering Lancer. For a few split seconds, he has a speech bubble saying "Lancer don't stand in front of me or else everyone will see I'm secretly a lightner".
    • In "Kromer Kollector", based on "Pac-Man", there's a split-second note saying that 2D in this video scares Valma, which is why he must be covered with Spamton.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: In "Rouxls has some character development" Rouxls mentions that the other band members don’t like him enough to make him a permanent member, hence why he’s only a guest rapper. They're often also shown to not have a very high opinion of him, such as Jevil thinking "Omg finally that loser stopped rapping" in "Rock the Pocket", and Spamton threatening to beat him up for always rapping the same thing on two separate occasions. Lancer still considers him his lesser dad, though.
  • Gag Censor: In "5/4 Key Items" Jevil’s penis is censored with a Joker card.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: "La Poche de Kris" is based on "Désolé", but since the creator doesn’t understand French, the characters end up singing in a different foreign language, specifically "Konnarap" from Eetu ja Konna, which is in Finnish.
  • I Call It "Vera": Chef Lancer's guns are called "Dinner Blaster" and "Dinner Blaster Jr."
  • IKEA Erotica: A visual example: In "Kromer Kollector" (based on "Pac-Man"), a warning shows up on screen that an uncensored sex scene will come up. Said scene is simply the Original Starwalker beating a punching bag labeled "Nubert’s Meat", and later "NUBERT’S MASSIVE RED COCK" and "NUBERT’S ABSOLUTELY HUMONGOUS PENIS".
  • Informed Deformity: In the beginning of "We Are So Humble About Being in Kris' Pocket", a text mentions that Spamton used to have jaundice and pink eye and they have now finally healed (as a nod to how 2D has permanently white eyes for the first time in the original video), but he looks the exact same as previously because of his colored glasses.
  • Lookalike Lovers: In "The Lost Item (Lancer Ate It)", Lancer and Chef Lancer end up falling in love, despite the fact that the latter is basically just the former with a mustache.
  • Never Learned to Read: In "Pockentary Kriss" it’s revealed that Jevil can’t read, which is why he drinks from the bottle labeled "Delicious juice except it makes you vomit if your name starts with J and ends with Evil".
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: In "Kris has to go to the dentist probably", it turns out that Lancer can spontaneously grow huge when he’s worried, to explain how him on his bike is as big as Noodle’s car.
  • Parent Never Came Back from the Store: W.D. Gaster has a note in his submarine reminding him to go buy milk "before [his] sons realize [he’s] a deadbeat".
  • Relationship Revolving Door: Jevil and Spamton have gotten married and divorced offscreen at least 20 times, with Spamton sometimes wondering why he married him again.
  • Retcon: In "Kris’ Pocketmobile Strikes Back" ("Stylo"), the Boogieman is portrayed by a Titan, but from the next video onwards, he’s Wing Gaster. It’s offhandedly mentioned in "Shadow Crystal Eyes" that said Titan was actually Wing Gaster in disguise.
  • Rhyming with Itself: In "Shadow Crystal Eyes", the lyrics "so call the mainland from the beach, all parties now washed up in bleach" are turned into "so call the mainland from the pocket, all parties now washed up in bleach that Kris keeps in their pocket".
  • Running Gag:
    • Characters calling out Rouxls Kaard for (almost) always rapping the same thing.
    • Almost every time a skull is shown on screen, a picture of either Sans, Papyrus, or Gaster is added over it, or if there’s already too many stickers on the screen, a blue "O" is added in one eyesocket to represent Sans’ eye. Likewise, every lamp with a stand is a Conveniently-Shaped Lamp, every bottle is a bottle of Big Shot soda, and every plane and helicopter is a Tsunderplane (and a Titan in disguise).
    • Whenever someone in the original videos doesn’t have their head or limbs on screen but is still clearly a Gorillaz member, "THIS X BELONGS TO [Kris’ Pocket Band member]" is written over what is visible.
  • Running Gagged: At first, Rouxls Kaard can only rap one song, his Hip Shop rap from Deltarune the (not) Musical. But in the aptly-titled "Rouxls has some character development" (based on "Friday the 13th") the audio for his rap is finally unedited, with the opening lyrics changed from "I been drinkin' and smokin' too much, that shit damages" to "I been rappingeth the same fucking thing too much, that shit gets tiringe after a whilye".
  • Stylistic Suck: The videos are by the creator’s own admission "shittily edited". Though the image editing gets less sloppy in later videos, there’s also the lyrics being awkwardly changed with text and asterisks to something that very rarely has the right amount of syllables or even rhymes, many of the images used being stock images with the background still visible, Rouxls’ rap parts often being interrupted mid-sentence to fit the length of the original, the fact that the creator didn’t notice that the video editing program allows you to flip the stickers until "El Bolsillo", leading to some images being conspicuously upside down, and calling out their own laziness or mistakes during the videos themselves a few times.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: In "We Are So Humble About Being in Kris’ Pocket", Spamton tries to scam Nubert by selling him roller skates that he specifically guarantees won’t explode and kill him, allowing Spamton to rob his corpse.
  • Token Good Teammate: Lancer is the only member of the band to like Rouxls and get worried when Spamton is about to die, never gets violent for little reason unlike Jevil trying to murder Spamton or Spamton threatening to beat up Rouxls, and is described as a "wholesome innocent boy" who doesn't even swear anything worse than "tier two swearwording" once. Though in "Robe(as in the clothing, with pockets)dark", he declares that he enslaves all of his fathers, and in "Pocket of the Kris' Pocketmobiles", he gets excited about committing traffic violations.
  • Vot Ocksent?: Rouxls, according to this line from "Rouxls has some character development":
I call my dealer, said, "Stop talking in that stupid way I can’t understand anything you say"
I told him, "I dån'e'st notteth ænderständyethesteth whateëthe thouzst arteþ waffelin'êthethetheth abouté" Translation
  • Weird Crossover: When Jevil goes to jail, his replacement is a crossover character, just like Ace. Namely, he’s Itchy from Looming Gaia, a fantasy literature series with a vastly different world and setting from Deltarune or Gorillaz.
