BBK Network note  is a web series created by Lee Han Jiet (李瀚杰 Li Han Jie), an University of Malaya alumni, and better known by his Stage Name/ Christian name "Lucas". The series is a satirical news program in the vein of The Daily Show note , and mainly focuses on Malaysian news and current affairs, although some international news items do occasionally appear. The show is mainly presented in Mandarin Chinese, although Malay note  and English do appear as well; the Cantonese dialect made an unexpected appearance in a 2022 videonote .

In the videos, Lucas provides his commentary on the news items covered, using humour which can be described as cringe-worthy at its worst. Be that as it may, he has stated that the series is an attempt to combine two of his main interests: stand-up comedy, and engaging Malaysian youth to be less apathetic about their country's politics.

Besides Lucas, other collaborators seen in the shows are:

  • Hoi Kahmun (许嘉雯 Xu Jiawen; not to be confused with the Malaysian badminton player who has the same Chinese name)note
  • Chan Shao Kang (陈劭康 Chen Shao Kang), better known by his Stage Name "Young K" (K少 K Shao) note
  • The Bong twins, Jia Zhong and Jia Er (温家综,家尔 Wen Jia Zong, Jia Er) note

BBK Network contains examples of:

  • Cultural Posturing: Averted and warned against. Lucas often advises his Malaysian Chinese audience to think beyond racial/cultural lines and help work towards a multi-racial and -cultural Malaysia.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: Lucas's screen persona is a critic who criticizes any and everyone as long as they have made mistakes.
  • Never Live It Down: On a meta level. After being engulfed in a plagiarism incident, Lucas frequently alludes to this incident in his subsequent videos. For the record, he has admitted the mistake, attributed it to his lack of experience at the time, decided to learn from the incident and move on.
  • Product Placement: Besides the usual Youtube ads, Lucas also acts as spokesperson for various products; thankfully, the videos are usually segmented so viewers can skip these easily.
  • Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Lucas himself leans towards the idealistic end of the scale, while acknowledging that the current situation in Malaysia very much favours the cynical end.
