Mettaton's Fair was an event held by somber-fabbot
where various blogs came and either held events during the fair, or explored others' events. Blog muses were to enjoy themselves and take the chance to interact with other muses they otherwise would've have gotten the chance to spoken to, as well as blog mods. The moderator of somber-fabbot created a chat for the members to talk while leading up to the event.
The event started when a murderous mask possessed Mettaton with the intent to kill a large group of muses. In true Mettaton fashion, he decided it needed to be showy, and arranged a fair to gather a crowd. Characters flocked to join the fair. Ring Master Mettaton kept a watch over the chat, and the shenanigans that took place in it.
The event began on the 6th of May 2016. People interacted with others in the fair, watching juggling acts, getting faces painted, buying food, playing games, and all around having fun.
On the 8th of May, the Grand Finale took place on Skype. It started as a nice show for everyone, with a few tricks and clever moments. However, when Emmy noticed the lights under the seats and distracted Ring Master long enough for Cosmic to destroy the detonate, the big top tent quickly broke into a fight. After several rounds of fighting and one super powered robot joining the fray, the group managed to defeat Ring Master. They promptly spared him, where he then left and returned Mettaton to them.
The next few days the group spent cleaning up parts of the fair. A short fair was also held after for Hysteria and a few other ink creatures that weren't allowed to come.
[Mettaton's Fair] contains examples of:
- Abnormal Ammo: Considering the fight was stock full of Undertale characters, there wasn't any normal ammunition being thrown to begin with.
- Affably Evil: Ring Master. He steals people's souls and exhausts the energy to free his own power, which, depending on your view, either forces the soul into the after life, or out right destroys the soul. He's also polite and perfectly willing to sit and speak with others so long as they aren't interrupting any plans he has. He will play mind games with you and twist your view of the world and yourself, and he will also sit and drink tea with you without so much as a bad word uttered.
- Ambiguous Gender: Ring Master. He's technically genderless, but will go by whatever he's taken the form of. Often it's Mettaton's form, or a variant there of.
- Arrowson Fire: Or Friendliness Pellets, in this case.
- Badass Army: Those who fought Ring Master at the Grand Finale, as it took all of them to take him down. Though, some were more badass than others.
- The Bad Guy Wins: A played down example. His plan may have been to kill everyone in an explosion, but his actual goal is to get souls to siphon energy from, and so long as Ring Master gets one soul, it's a win for him.

Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The ink rights movement. - Boss Rush: Ring Master can use at least two of the alternative boss modes, being the Green and Yellow ones. He very quickly and briefly used them in the Grand Finale.
- Casting a Shadow: Ring Master.
- Chewing the Scenery: A side effect of taking on Mettaton's forms and mannerisms for a long time.
- The Chessmaster: Ring Master. He knew just how to get everyone's guard down, and keep Ufo in line, and was also quick to make up a reason that inks weren't allowed without revealing his plans.
- Circusof Fear: Only once Ring Master's finale started.
- Cold Ham: Ufo and Ring Master.
- Deadpan Snarker: Ring Master likes to do this, especially with the muns.
- Deal with the Devil: Between Ufo and Ring Master. Twice.
- Three if you count his deal with Underfell Sans to get the human souls.
- The Dragon: Ufo for those at the Grand Finale.
- Edible Ammunition: Cimmanon, the baker Mettaton, threw sprinkles and flour bags at Ring Master.
- Elemental Powers: Ring Master, in a strange case. He is a shadow elemental, but most of his powers are locked away in a mask that he was sealed in.
- Evil Mask: Subverted in that it's not the mask that's evil, it's Ring Master who happens to be sealed in it, and whether or not he's truly evil is up for debate.
- Family-Values Villain: Ring Master. He has no qualms with violently murdering someone or trying to turn a group of monsters and humans into carnage as long as it doesn't interrupt any plans of his, but say a swear around him and he'll be more than happy to remind you who's really in charge. Doubly so if there's a child around.
- Fate Worse than Death: The entire reason Deadmega spared Ring Master.
- The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Ring Master, while not always seeming like it, is a very meta villain. He moderates the chat for the event more than the actual chat creator does, and will pop in to remind the "humuns" who's really in charge.
- Even his creator has stated that they are afraid of him.
- Grey-and-Gray Morality: Surprisingly a lot of it. Unlike with Gravestone, the group wasn't fighting to stop a villain from killing everyone or ruining the world. Most were only fighting to save themselves, or because Ring Master attacked them first. Several characters showed intent in killing Ring Master before realizing that they should probably follow everyone else and spare him.
- Special mention to Ufo who stated that, had Ring Master not held Mettaton hostage for too long, he would have been friends with Ring Master.
- A mention specifically to Deadmega who spared Ring Master in the thought it would make the elemental suffer.
- Another mention to Ring Master. While he may scare people for fun, he had no actual intention to kill anyone until he was sealed away, and his freedom required killing.
- Good is Not Nice: Most everyone who attacked Ring Master.
- Hidden in Plain Sight: Ring Master.
- Ring Master's weak point, being his mask that he likes to use as a face. Doubly so for removing it being the way to break people from his possession.
- It Makes Sense in Context: This blog.
- One Man Army: Ring Master. And that's in his severely underpowered form.
- Ufo as well once he obtained the six human souls and actually got to the fight.
- Leaking Can of Evil: Ring Master is still sealed in his mask, but he can use what little power he has access to to siphon energy from people who wear it, as well as possess them.
- Now he can actually walk around with a physical form due to how much power he's regained. Though he's still technically sealed in the mask.
- Logical Weakness: Ring Master's mask, his weak point, is made of wood. It makes sense it wouldn't do well against fire or explosions.
- Mad Bomber: Ring Master's Grand Finale. He had remote-detonated bombs set up under everyone's chairs...except Fwowey's, of course.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Deadmega. Justified as he's dead, and Ring Master's attacks, while painful, couldn't do much to him.
- Maskof Power: The mask that holds Ring Master.
- Meaningful Name: Ring Master gets two, both of which are self proclaimed. Ring Master Mettaton seeing as he was the one running the fair as Mettaton, and The Boogeyman since, in his weaker state, he stole people away to steal their soul energy without being interrupted, which lines up with the children's stories of The Boogeyman stealing away people who stayed out too late.
- Morality Pet: Fwowey to Ring Master. So much that Ring Master will go out of his way to avoid hurting the little guy.
- He even let Fwowey put googly eyes on him.
- Murderous Mask: Ring Master's mask. Save for Mettaton, everyone who's worn it so far has been killed by him.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ring Master wasn't actually a serious threat before the ancients sealed him away.
- Noble Demon: Ring Master, as dark as he can be, won't do bad things without a reason.
- He steals souls to unlock the seal placed on his power.
- The reason he kept out ink creatures was not for any sort of hate against them, but because he didn't want to risk them ruining his plan. He let the muse the fair grounds once the finale was over.
- He actually defends Fwowey from those that try and hurt the poor flower for fun.
- Ufo actually qualifies as well.
- Non-Fatal Explosions: A very serious example. While it didn't kill him, Ring Master's taking two explosions to the face drained his HP down to one and left him unable to fend for himself.
- Notably averted with the bombs that Ring Master placed under everyone's seats because they never actually went off.
- Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Ring Master claims this about himself.
- Not Quite Dead: Ring Master after being defeated.
- Repulsive Ringmaster: Who else but Ring Master when he's not being affable.
- The Reveal: Roughly three days before the fair, Ufo got sick of Ring Master's possession of Mettaton, and decided to remove the mask when the three were alone. What none of them were counting on was the fact that Ring Master's screaming upon being removed attracted a small crowd. Divine, Inky, Cammy, and Frisk all showed up and saw Ring Master take on his own physical form and steal Mettaton's soul core, to which he had them all swear that they would remain silent.
- This also happened a second time in the Grand Finale. When Sans broke his remote detonator, Ring Master deserted his act and revealed his true intentions of murder, and even unintentionally showed everyone his true form-or lack of one. Dapster was the only one who seemed not to get it this time around, but that may be because Dapster thinks Rousseau Was Right.
- Right Under Their Noses: Most of those attending the fair didn't know Ring Master was actually a bad guy until the finale. Those who did were Ufo, who caught on to his act immediately, and the few who saw his reveal upon the hill.
- This goes for the muns as well; apparently about half of them didn't realize that there was a villain in the event until the hill reveal.
- Strategy, Schmategy: Most of the Grand Finale fight.
- Cimmamon gets a special mention for throwing food at Ring Master, which actually confused him.
- Things That Go "Bump" in the Night: Surprisingly, The Boogeyman shows up. It's Ring Master himself.
- Unreliable Narrator: Most of what's known about Ring Master comes from his own mouth.
- Unspoken Plan Guarantee: A villain example. Ring Master never spoke about his plan to steal everyone's souls. He didn't kill everyone like he planned, but he only needed to get one for his plan to succeed. And he got one.
- You Cannot Kill an Idea: Yes, this showed up here. In the form of the Ink Rights movement that woke Hysteria from the dead.
- White Maskof Doom: The mask that holds Ring Master is, in its default form, a white comedy mask. Putting it on results in someone dying.
- A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Ring Master.
- Ufo to a lesser extent.
