This work provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Parody: Of The Lord of the Rings.
  • Badass Beard Soapy gets one after his Face–Heel Turn.
  • Big Eater: All the Pudges, even the noticeably slimmer Edward!
  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: The Noble One, Edward and Soapy That is, until Soapy is taken by the Bus Riders.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: The Noble One at one point says 'I have nobly wet my pants'.
  • Circular Reasoning: The Noble One is guilty of this. Whenever the other characters questions the nobility of his actions, he justifies it must be noble if someone as noble as himself is doing it.
    • This also applies to his justification why the token must be destroyed. The Noble One explains that Edward must destroy the token because it is foretold in the prophecy. When Edward questions why the token needs to be destroyed in the first place, the Noble One says it is because the prophecy says the token must be destroyed.
  • The Chosen One: Edward, although he's not particularly happy about it when he receives the Token.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Edward, especially when he's around The Noble One and Primatene.
  • Dirty Coward: The Noble One.
Edward: "Noble One!" Pah! You big stinky chicken!
Noble One: Ah, well, you're very short!
    • He does quickly become a Lovable Coward afterwards.
    • The Pudges, sans Soapy and Edward, are also this. When they encounter a foe, they instantly and unconditionally surrender as seen when they encounter the Bus Riders.
  • Expy: Edward is a mix of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, Soapwart McFuggletoes is based off Samwise Gamgee, Primatene is Gandalf, The Noble One is Legolas, and the Bus Riders are like the Black Riders only they... ride buses.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Soapy
  • Fat Best Friend: Soapy fulfill this role towards Edward.
  • Fighting Your Friend:Between Edward and Soapy in the final episode. Shame we never got to see how it ended.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: The Noble One looks a lot like Mike.
  • Informed Attribute: Parodied. The Noble One is constantly going on about how noble he is yet a Dirty Coward. Everyone else sees through his facade and treat him accordingly.
  • Jerk Witha Heartof Gold: The Noble One may be a Dirty Coward, but he did save Edward and Soapy from the Bus Riders. In a "petty, conniving, yet selfless act" like the many he had done before.
    • Edward himself goes between this and Jerkass, because although he does care about Soapy, he abandons him for five years after getting married and settling down, earning a living as a tax payer.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Not exactly dumb, more like 'absent-minded'; it happens to Edward when he falls in love and gets married to a beautiful woman. This causes him to forget that his best friend is in the hands of the Bus Riders for five years.
  • Miles Gloriosus: The Noble One.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: The bad guys kidnap Soapy thinking he is Edward. Soapy ends up joining him because Edward didn't try to save him for five years.
  • Morality Pet: Soapy is the only other Pudge that Edward really cares about.
  • No Ending: The series ends with Soapy about to kill Edward. As such, we get no resolution of the plot.
  • Not So Above It All: Edward is normally the Only Sane Man but still has moments of selfish and stupid behavior.
  • Only Sane Man: Edward.
  • Our Elves Are Different: The Noble One and his race are parodies of the elves of The Lord of the Rings. They are a tall, handsome race who believe in You Can't Fight Fate. If the Noble One is typical of his race, they are a bunch of Dirty Cowards prone to Moral Myopia.
    • In the first episode, elves are mentioned and presumably are a different race.
  • Sensitive Guyand Manly Man: Edward is the Manly Man to Soapy and The Noble One's Sensitive Guys. Even when Soapy turns evil he still speaks in an effeminate high voice!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Primatene chews out Edward for abandoning his quest to save his best friend and instead wasting time living with his wife.
