Project Askos (2019) is the first installment into The 'Verse that is the Askosverse, created by Jaydreamer. It follows the What If? scenario of "What if Romania was a Pokémon region?", where the culture and history of Romania is translated into a potential plot for a Pokemon game.
Project Askos is part of a bigger Shared Universe. Askos is not to be confused with Pokémon Lavender, which is the Self-Remake of this project.
Project Askos contains examples of:
- Anachronistic Orphanage - Larsa's backstory mentions him coming from an orphanage, despite this being set in the 21st century.
- And There Was Much Rejoicing - After King Blake was defeated, everyone's lives became much better.
- Butterfly of Death and Rebirth - Literally. Determonarch is a Legendary Pokemon with the power to warp reality.
- Chekhov M.I.A. - The absence of Coral's father is explained in both Pokémon Petunia and the Askosverse Shorts.
- Dark and Troubled Past - Larsa's dad was the tyrannical King of the Askos region.
- Defeat Means Friendship - After Coral fights Larsa, he realises the errors of his ways, and becomes a good guy.
- Don't Fear the Reaper - Duschacla is the Pokemon version of this.
- Familial Body Snatcher:
- More explicit in the remake, but Larsa is possessed by the ghost of his own father.
- In Eternal Twilight, this gets extended to be all of his ancestors combined.
- Foreshadowing:
- Coral's mother teases the Prequel, as she is the grown-up version of Nina, from Pokémon Petunia. It's also implied that Peter is Coral's father.
- Filabub's existence also teases this.
- Gold and White Are Divine - The Legendary Pokemon Emparmony has these as its colour scheme.
- Heroic Mime - Coral has spoken dialogue a total of once, where she says "Stop it!".
- Lost Orphaned Royalty - Larsa is revealed to be the Prince of Askos - the son of King Blake, who was killed by Trent Askos during the beginning flashback.
- Mind-Control Eyes - Larsa's eyes have no shine to them whilst Blake takes possession of him.
- Opening Narration - This is done within a Flashback to establish how the Askos region came to be.
- Thanking the Viewer: At the end of the Closing Credits, it thanks the viewer.
- Second-Person Narration - The Narrator is Jaydreamer themselves, and they talk to the viewer in the second person.
- The Kingslayer - Trent Askos becomes this. He even changes the region's name.
- You Kill It, You Bought It - Also applies to Trent, since he became President after killing King Blake.
