Hobo Hobo Funnie Show (titled Hobo_Funnie_Show on YouTube) is a webseries starring a blue little guy with a considerable rear end named Hobo.

Stylized after the CGI trend of the mid-late 2000s, it presumably is about him and two other guys he hangs out with, an unnamed red pole-like creature, and a yellow guy similar to Hobo. Unfortunately, the world Hobo lives him collapses, and is forced to figure out what exactly is going on, and to escape from big, static figure that wants to do... something to him.

After one season of four episodes that ran from March 24, 2022 to August 12, 2022, the show was followed by a non-canon Christmas special on December 24, 2022. Another episode was released on February 9, 2024 serving as a continuation, only for the series to be indefinitely shelved after the creator announced their intention to leave from animation and YouTube on March 25, 2024.

Hobo Funnie Show provides examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: The fates of the unnamed Red and Yellow guys Hobo hangs around with in the first episode. Also applies to Hobo himself, being forced to dance for an extremely long time if not eternity once the big figure he tried to fight against finally catches him.
    • Ultimately subverted with Hobo_Funnie_Ad_Comp, where Bobo apparently escaped from the ad. How and why is never really explained.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The entire show. We don't know why Hobo's world collapsed, why the big figure antagonizes him so much, why Hobo keeps teleporting to different places, why he has painful visions of a world where he's a character in an animated tv show or in fact anything at all about what's going on, fitting its surreal nature. The fact there is now AI implementation and the CEO of Ramster's disappearance mentioned in Ad_Comp leaves a lot more questions about the nature of the series.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Played with heavily and subverted to an extent, as Hobo repeatedly has painful visions of a world where he is a fictional character on a cartoon created by a studio/company named Ramster. Of course neither Ramster nor the reported show are actually real.
  • Captain Ersatz:
    • The two characters on Hobo's television, with their Italian names, mustaches, and the fact that they wear red and green mark them as obvious parodies of Mario and Luigi.
    • Also, I'm the Joker baby!
    • The characters Hobo meets in the various commercials are parodies of various advertising mascots, including Apple and CinnaMon and "Animal" from the Pepperami commercials.
  • Christmas Special: It's a Very Hobo Hobo Christmas (titled The Hobo Hobo Christmas Special on YouTube) features your favorite Hobo Hobo characters in this non-canon christmas special! It's also notable for being a non-canon Breather Episode of sorts in that, while it keeps the surreal humor of the rest of the series, Hobo hangs out with his friends instead of getting horribly traumatized, making the episode more reminiscent of Smiling Friends.
  • Cousin Oliver: Cousin Boho from the Christmas special appears to be one of these. Hobo is instantly annoyed when he sees him, which Boho is completely oblivious to.
  • Downer Ending: The show (at least until the sixth episode) ends with Bobo finally caught by the big dude and forced to dance for a very long time, with his homeworld destroyed and left alone with no-one to help him out of his situation.
  • Left Hanging: The creator had more episodes planned, but ultimately decided to take a leave from animation due to a Creator Breakdown and prematurely cancelled the series no real conclusion, therefore leaving it on a cliffhanger.
  • Madness Mantra: There are variations of it, and it's not the only thing he says, but basically:
    I'M BELBO AND I TELL YOU WHAT!!! I'M THE FASTEST GUNSLINGER ON THIS SIDE OF THE MISSISSIPI!!! (fires gun repeatedly}
    • The sausage creature in "Hobo_Funnie_Ad_Comp" only says "YOU'RE A NEPO BABY! A NEPO BABY! AHAHAHAHAHA!" to Hobo over and over again.
  • Mood Whiplash: The entire web series runs on this.
  • Piano Drop: Happens to The Joker in the third episode, much to his incredibly painful dismay.
The Joker: "AAAAH! THE PIANO! IT FELL ON ME!! WAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"
  • Shout-Out: The sixth episode of the series begins with a "commercial" that is made in the style of Rankin/Bass Productions, complete with stop-motion as well as having a lower aspect ratio.
  • Stylistic Suck: Not really the animation itself, which pays a great homage to the CGI of the 2000s, but the videos repeatedly start to get blurry and poor quality (especially whenever the big figure appears). Exaggerated in the fourth episode, where it gets so blurry for a bit that Hobo himself is basically blind.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "I'm Belbo, I tell you WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!"
  • Surreal Humour and Surreal Horror: All of the videos run on this, especially the fourth episode.
  • Take That!: "Hobo_Funnie_Ad_Comp" takes some potshots at the growing trend of AI-generated media and its use in advertising spaces in the 2020s. The fast food kids' toy commercial Hobo comments on simulates the artifical and plastic-y look these AI-created ads often take when trying to create a live-action setting, as well as throwing in random elements like a hamster.
Hobo: Guys, why have a computer make this!? What, are you stupid or something?
