Fun With Akatsuki is a series of Naruto parody animations. They were created by OmniStrife and can be viewed on this
YouTube playlist.
The series consists of 1-to-3 minute comedy shorts starring the Akatsuki. The first short is from 2006 and, as a result, the series isn't compliant with later canon. The skits are credited with popularizing the meme that "Tobi is a good boy".
Fun With Akatsuki provides examples of:
- Black Comedy:
- When given a rabbit as a seeing eye animal, Itachi ends up strangling it with its leash, swirls it in circles in the arm, then sets it on fire. In a later episode it gets into the Akatsuki despite being dead.
- Deidara accidentally eats the head off of a cat when he tries to pet it.
- Itachi brings the skeletons of his parents to his Parents-Teacher meeting.
- Composite Character:
- Tobi is Obito as an adult. In canon, this was later proven true.
- The leader is the Fourth Hokage.
- Dirty Kid: As a kid, the Fourth Hokage peeked at women in hot springs with Jiraya.
- Disabled in the Adaptation: Instead of being near blind, Itachi is already blind and sports black glasses at all times.
- Manchild: Tobi acts like a little boy despite being in his 20s.
- Related in the Adaptation: The leader of the Akatsuki is Naruto's dad.
- Shout-Out:
- In the second episode, Deidara watches Bleach.
- The third episode starys with Pain being upset that he can't watch Iron Chef because Itachi set the TV on fire.
- The fifth episode revolves around characters auditioning to replace Orochimaru. Vegeta from Dragon Ball, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Voldemort from Harry Potter, and Darth Vader from Star Wars all audition.
- In episode 6, Sasori attacks Scorpion from Mortal Kombat and Kisame lives with Willy Free Willy
- The leader suggests dressing like James from Pokémon: The Series in the 8th episode.
